Definitely one of my favorite places to photograph, although having been born and raised in Oak Bluffs, I think it should have been tops! 😉☀️🕶️

Twelve years ago this week, I decided to pursue my life-long passion of photography and launch my own small business! Lots has happened in the past few years, cue the cliche "life got in the way," enough so that my business was basically sidelined. I'm more than excited to share that new and fun things are on the horizon for me as a photographer, so stay tuned! Details will be revealed soon I promise! For now just enjoy these twelve (1 for each year of my business launch) sunrise and sun rising photos, I recently took on my trip home to the Vineyard! This island for me epitomizes why they say there's no place like HOME, and for me and many others there's definitely no place like the Vineyard!

Wowzer! Amazing shots in record cold!

I don't remember the last time not only did it snow on Christmas but I was there to witness it! Sadly I wasn't there for this white Christmas but I can enjoy it through the photos of others! Merry Christmas one and all!

As a photographer and mother, I have always believed in giving back in whatever way I can to my local community. Toward that end, I did a pro bono photo shoot for this young man who is trying to secure his first professional job. These photos were taken on a "green screen" and outside my home for the brick shots. Adopt don't shop! ♥️🐾

"Yesterday I adopted the most old, sick and sore dog in the shelter.
I will never forget his eyes, when I walked into the cage, he didn't even bother to look, as if he knew I wouldn't even see him. Curled up in the corner, he had accepted his fate.
The volunteer told me many times... "But surely that? Sure?"
YES! This is my dog. He opened his cage and 3 other dogs fell on me, I ran towards him, suddenly he looked at me as if he was seeing an angel...I hugged him and told him that now he will be happy again.
Since then he has been sleeping in my arms... probably the first peaceful sleep he has ever done.
Save a life. Give hugs. They need us."

Leaving the Vineyard is usually a sad occasion for me. But this day I was just off for a few hours for some appointments. One of my favorite views is OB Harbor and the beach where I swam everyday as a child! The newly refurbished beach and pier, are restoring Oak Bluffs to its heyday and glory! It’s been a challenging few months, since I lost my Mom in March, but this island brings me faith, peace and a calm that I doesn’t exist anywhere in this world for me!

One of my favorite recent trips was to West Palm Beach, FL. I took my first solo vacation to Florida to celebrate my Mom’s life and my birthday. Mom passed on 3/3, my birthday was 3/14. My last “real” conversation with my Mom was the afternoon of 3/2, when I told her I was coming up to the Vineyard in a few days to celebrate my birthday with her. She was excited to celebrate with me, and even joked that she didn’t want to die on my birthday. I replied sarcastically “well good I don’t want you to die on my birthday either, try not to do that.” Tragically, she passed the next day. But I was blessed that I was able to tell her I loved her, hold her hand, hug and kiss her, and thank her for everything she did for me, before she transitioned. We buried her on 3/8, my birthday on the 14th sucked just like I knew it would! Birthdays and holidays (esp Christmas) were EVERYTHING to Jo Jo! She loved decorating and celebrating anything and everything! I ”channeled” Jo Jo’s spirit throughout my road trip across Florida. My favorite times were sharing peaceful sunrises with her spirit, reading passages from her daily meditations with God book. I miss her every single minute of every day! But as importantly, I was incredibly blessed not only to be her daughter, but to be able to care for her and be with her as she peacefully transitioned to heaven. Death is never easy, even when it is somewhat expected. Saying goodbye to my Mom is undoubtedly the hardest thing I’ve ever done, yet I do find peace that she is no longer suffering and she’s reunited with Pop Pop, my Dad and her parents and siblings. Her birthday 8/14 is just a few weeks away. I plan to peacefully celebrate her life with our family and friends! Nothing is the same without Jo Jo, but celebrating her life and all that she meant to us is more important than dwelling on her absence!
