The Caston House

.cassidy has been working on new set pieces lately, so we thought we’d post some shots using a previous backdrop and set she put together. It’s hard to stop her once an idea settles in her mind, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Circled in Blue is the where Caston House currently sits. Green square marks where the Court House is located. At one time where the Cheatman Park elementary school is north of The Center now, was once the location of a cemetery.

TBH-
We have been so busy with photography & Videography this past year. We have not had much time to work on the reno. 35% done with electric and we needed to get access under the floor in Studio C. The floor had dips, bounce and slopes so we decided to take up subfloor and fix the joists. As you can see with the before and after images we leveled and supported the ledger board with blocks and hanger joist. Then added support studs and v***r barrier. It really feels nice to stand on a firm floor.

We knew the floor, just before the threshold was a bit uneven, however, when you peel back the layers. I am speechless, when I see this. My only question is WHY?

Started to work in the attic to run the wires for lights and switches. Came across these two squatters. Not sure what the one is with long tail and claws.

Getting back to replacing all these bad lines. A process which will be appreciated down the road.

Spent a few hours in the crawl space, digging small trenches so I can get into tight spaces. Running new 14-2 wire to outlet boxes (21 done so far). Half way there. Whew!!!

Cut out the outlet location, set boxes in place, run the 14-2 wire in the crawl space and connected the wires in Studio B. Just to think 7 more rooms to go…

Welp this is the first of many outlets being installed for the rewiring of the whole house. In order to get permits, outlets have to be less than 12 feet apart per room. Since the rooms are larger than normal we will have 6-7 per room and there are 8 rooms (not just bedrooms).
