Looking for a fun and educational summer experience for your child? Springfield Safety City is a free program that teaches essential safety skills to children entering 1st grade through hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and real-world scenarios.

The Springfield Fire Department held a promotional ceremony this week to celebrate the hard work of our members who achieved these accomplishments. We are happy to announce the promotions of Driver Engineers Kody Bloodworth, Patrick English, Edgar Ewing, Dan Gorton, Kevin Heideman, Patrick Hildebrand, David Serra, and Nicholas Williamson. Promoted to Captains are Joshua Banks, David Bletscher, Blake Goleman, Joseph Saucier, Scott Stotlar, Michael Thompson, and Michael Walter. Promoted to Battalion Chief is Benjamin Kervin. Promoted to Deputy Division Chiefs are Matthew Creighton and Michael Flynn. Promoted to Division Chiefs are Mark Ballinger, Jacob Maxedon, and Bryce McCormick. Congratulations!!!

The Springfield Fire Department participated in the Central Illinois Senior Celebration at the Orr Building last week 🚒🚒. Public Educator, Captain Jason Washam, met with seniors on the smoke alarm and Knox Box services available to them. Smoke detectors save lives❤️❤️!!!

The Springfield Fire Department attended the 33rd Annual Illinois Fallen Firefighter Memorial & Firefighter Medal of Honor Awards Ceremony. A ceremony was held at the Illinois Firefighter Memorial to honor those who have made the supreme sacrifice.
The following SFD members were recognized during the awards ceremony: Captains Jake English and Josh Mifflin. Driver Engineers Mike Joyner, and Tyler Sitko. Firefighters Jake Crowley, Andre Curtis, Pat English, Talon Kellum, Amanda Laager, Austin Muench, and Chris Macomber.
