There is something so sweet about watching parents welcome their second baby.
The wonder is still there. They still study that tiny face, marvel at those little fingers, and fall completely in love with someone they’ve only just met. But there’s often a little more ease this time—a familiar way of settling a baby against their chest, a little more confidence, a little less second-guessing. Getting to watch that transformation is such a beautiful part of telling a family’s story.
And then there’s the first baby, suddenly becoming the big sibling.
Sometimes that first meeting is full of kisses and curiosity. Sometimes it’s hesitation, distraction, or a look that says, “I’m sorry…who is this, and why are they staying?” And sometimes it comes with tears. And all of that is completely normal. Becoming a big sibling is a big change for a little person. There’s no perfect reaction we’re waiting for—just their honest place in the story as it unfolds.
That’s what we love about Fresh 48 sessions. The newness of it all. Parents taking in the baby they’ve waited so long to meet. Grandparents holding a whole new person to love. A family beginning to understand what life looks like with one more.
These first hours are tender and a little blurry, filled with exhaustion, wonder, and so many small moments you’ll want to remember. It’s an honor to step into that space and preserve a little of how it felt.
We don’t share Fresh 48 sessions as often, but we do offer them as part of our first-year options. If you’d love to have those earliest moments documented, let’s talk while you’re planning for your baby’s arrival.
Every story has a beginning. Every one of them deserves to be told.

Before Scarlett, there was Sage. 🤍
A timid little girl with four paws and a heart that belongs completely to Maggie and Cullen. Their first baby. The one who was there when this family’s story was just beginning—with an engagement ring balanced on her nose.
Today, I walked into their home to photograph their lifestyle newborn session with Scarlett, and there were pieces of that story hanging on the walls. Photographs we’ve made together through the years, including that sweet engagement photo with Sage.
Seeing your work in someone’s home changes you a little as a photographer. You remember taking those pictures, but then you see where they belong. They’re part of the place this family comes home to. And now, their daughter will grow up surrounded by photographs of the love that came before her.
That’s an honor I don’t quite have enough words for.
Today was Scarlett’s newborn session, but I found myself watching Sage, too.
Leaning into her mom, finding comfort in the person she trusts. Giving her dad kisses. Lying on the bed, quietly keeping watch over her people—with one tiny new person among them.
Her family has grown, and there she is, still loving them with everything she has.
I love that these photographs will help tell Scarlett something someday: before she came home, Sage was already there. Already loved. Already family. And there beside her as her own story began.
There’s something beautiful about photographing a newborn at home—the familiar surroundings, the everyday affection, and the four-legged family members who belong in the story, too. Lifestyle sessions can be added to a posed newborn session, giving us room to capture this part of life alongside those sweet studio portraits.
Maggie and Cullen, thank you for letting me keep telling your story. And Sage, thank you for being such a sweet part of it from the beginning.

When your parents life is golf carts it makes sense that you would have not one but TWO golf carts for your first birthday session!
Maggie owned the entire session yesterday on the course. She sported her golf outfit and her clubs and her matching (custom made) golf cart.
A special thanks to the folks at Legacy Golf Course for allowing us to work at their beautiful course! And of course to mom, grandmother and Gracie who chased a newly walking Maggie around and made her give us those huge nose crinkling smiles!!!

Probably my favorite newborn thing I do. But then again, I love baby feet so this fits right in there with that!! Tiny details ... ones that have already changed since I took these. Ones that you will 100% forget. You think you won't but ... you will. You'll forget how their skin peeled and they had milk bumps and their color was a little too red, or yellow, or purple or white and that their toenails were jagged when they came out. You'll forget how fine that baby hair was on their head and their ears. But ... when you have the photos, you will be magically transported back to all those little details you stared at for hours while you watched them sleep and while you held them to feed them. And you'll almost be able to even smell them ... if you look long enough.
Take the photos.

Greenhouse sessions were such a win this year. Even though it was super hot in September the location was super cute and the families came ready to put in the work for some amazing family photos! We truly enjoyed our time there!! A few samples from those sessions below!

Throwing out galleries like candy at a parade today! Two more newborn and then headed off into senior gallery land. Gracie has delivered a wedding today and there are currently two in her queue. We are trying SUPER hard to stay on schedule heading into our busiest time of the year as we typically have a full day/two each week set aside to edit but during this window we are working pretty much 7 days a week until the second week of December.
Ordered some loaded teas -- hoping Coffee and Loaded Teas along with my big ole water with electrolytes is going to get me through. I don't know what Gracie's secret will be but I'm guessing hers will include a lot of expresso shots!
We are officially entering "be kind to your photographer" season.

The start of fall family sessions is some of my favorite times. They are a little more laid back (unless you have littles under 5), and relaxed and fun. The weather has calmed down some and just seeing families together spending time creating images that will hang in their homes makes me so happy.
And this family? Well, we've been doing this since Olivia and Owen were little bitty and now they are almost grown and I just do.not.like.it. But gosh, they are a pretty family though, aren't they?
