We will have catered Bambinos at 12pm and will be watching themed movies.

Tuesday October 22nd at 6 pm we will be hosting our Fall 2024 Induction Ceremony at the Historic Gillioz Theatre in downtown Springfield.

DAY ONE
Fall Heartland Regional Conference
After traveling from Springfield to KC, we settled into our hotel, picked up our name tags, and then kicked off the conference with the 1st General Session. The Regional Officers Welcomed us reminded us of our regional goals. We got a sneak peak at the PTK socks that attendees will be receiving. We watched the Channing Competition and the of course, announced the winner. The regional officers spoke on RO-101 or "Why you should run for Regional Officer." We attended the college fair. Enjoyed an amazing dinner and then had a short meet and greet with our mock chapters for the weekend!
In the 2nd General Session, we heard from storyteller Bobby Norflok on "The Power of Stories in the 21st Century." Our final speaker of the evening was Brittany Khan with an International Headquarters Update. Duing this session, our very own Mary Higginbotham was called on to share her PTK story.

Why did you join PTK?

I joined PTK because I was doing better at school than I expected to, and I got the invitation. I only joined Later in my second semester because I thought it would look good on my resume. After attending my first Chapter meeting, I realized that Leadership would look even better on my resume. Free Snacks! I like the free snacks in the Honors lounge for PTK members. -Daniel Cider

Hey PTK! Get to know your fellow member, Carol Gourley!

👩‍🎓What are your career goals?
Learning about plant science and animal science has been my focus at OTC. I will transfer to MSU for a master's degree and then possibly teach.

🦉Why did you join PTK?
It was the many scholarship opportunities that originally caught my attention. Most 4-year colleges offer a generous transfer scholarship for active members and PTK international offers millions each year!

🐶🐱Do you have a dog/cat (or other pet)? If so, what is their name?
I have a hilarious husky named Kember, a sassy tabby cat named Benni (short for Cat Benatar), an adorable chinchilla named Bolt, and the best husband ever, Darryl.

🎬What is a current show/movie or book you'd recommend?
I am currently enjoying Atomic Habits by James Clear. It is a discussion book for PTK leadership class. This is a free honors class offered every semester. Just one more advantage of your membership to PTK!

Why did you join PTK?

I joined Phi Theta Kappa because I didn’t participate much in extracurricular activities during high school, and I wanted to change that this time around. Phi Theta Kappa has inspired me to grow, embrace challenges, and appreciate the process of self-improvement. What I didn’t expect was to develop such a strong sense of family through the organization, but I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything. - Damien Brandon

I am wanting to be a surgeon technician.

For the scholarships and the opportunities that PTK brings.

My most vacation was going to Disneyland with my family in California over the summer.
