Today Direction Service is celebrating the life of our long-time Executive Director Marshall Peter. Marshall led Direction Service for thirty-seven years before retiring nine years ago. Many have benefited from his many years of passionate service and work for people who experience disability or mental health challenges. Marshall’s vision for how humans should work together to ensure all children and youth are included and benefit from their education built the foundation for what DS is today. He also launched the National Center for Dispute Resolution (CADRE) where he helped shape policies and systems across the country for 17 years. His work directly impacted generations of youth and families and continues to do so even now. Not only did he shape the work, Marshall cultivated people and was a mentor to many. He invested in people, and we were lucky to learn from and alongside him. This is a link to the video we created to celebrate him when he retired at the end of 2015. Marshall's voice is missed, but his legacy will live on.
