First Aid Friday! 🩹

So, you're in the kitchen making a homemade meal (because in this economy who isn't trying to cook more at home?) and you burn your hand pulling a pan out of the oven. Now what?

Remove the heat source - no kidding but try not to drop that pan of chicken!

Run cool water over the burn for 10 minutes or so. Not ice water, not ice - we're trying to reduce the extreme nature of the temp.

Check out the damage. Do you see charred skin, LARGE blisters, leathery skin? Seek medical attention immediately.

If a mild burn, keep it dry and don't pop the blister. Keep it clean with soap and water, use an antibiotic ointment. If a blister pops on its own, keep it clean and protect the skin.

See a healthcare provider if:
The burn is large, deep, or on a sensitive area;
You develop signs of infection (redness, swelling, pus, increasing pain);
The burn is severe or you suspect a third-degree injury.
