Solar Chariot

This has been an incredible season chasing whitetails. I started the season with a gut shot Doe on the family farm but was extremely fortunate that she died so quickly. I redeemed myself with the next few deer, making perfect shots on two more Does and a young buck. With the freezer nearing full capacity and a remaining buck tag, I wanted to hold out for a good mature buck. I went into an incredible permission piece with the intent to sit from about 1030 to sundown. After a full day of seeing zero movement, I turned around and saw a young doe being trailed by this nice buck. She was leading him through brush and deadfall in an attempt to escape his advances. I let out a few buck grunts and she came right to me hoping I was a buck that would fight her pursuer. In the process of grabbing my bow and repositioning she undoubtedly saw me move. Any other doe, at any other time of year would have immediately alerted, but she just looked and me, and at the buck, and calmly walked up the trail on which I entered. Wonderful broadside shot on this unsuspecting buck with the , pass through, and he ran uphill about 20 yards and collapsed. This was my 29th sit of this season and all that hard work culminated in this beautiful opportunity. October 1st 2026 cannot come soon enough.

Amazing weekend in Tennessee. Prime, Jack Links, and Luepold courses. Tough hikes. Amazing rock formations. Steep uphill and downhill shots. New friends. Tons of rain and mud. Back straps and black coffee. My Lift had a major mechanical issue Sunday morning so I shot Luepold with the v3x. Fortunately I snagged a press from new shop, Nashville North Archery. Taking full ownership of all bow building, tuning and maintenance. Nobody cares about how your bow shoots more than you.

Beautiful morning hike through the Menard Archers 3d course. Josie is getting back on the train. The course had some serious downhill shots and I was trending low right, so I may need a small third axis adjustment or a new sight tape. Super pumped for Tennessee coming up this weekend.

Day 2 of archery season. My first ever deer. This was the culmination of a full year of practice and determination to become a proficient and deadly archer. AJ had been asking me for years, “when are you gonna get a bow?” Thanks to him for the inspiration to put in the hard work. Thanks to for putting up with my obsession. This was the second buck we saw during our sit. The first spotted us immediately and ran downwind and didn’t like what he smelled and quickly bolted. An hour later, the wind in our favor, this guy appeared and stood beneath us for ages. Hand shaking. Controlled breathing. He finally walked to my strong side, quartering away. Drawing the bow and shooting a perfect arrow was the easiest thing I did all day. Dragging him 200yards to the car, through chest high wild growth, was the most difficult. Thanks again AJ for the expert guidance and helping me begin this journey.
