We’re trained to wear hard hats, use work gloves, inspect our tools and take other safety measures on the job. So why should mental health be treated any differently?

According to the CDC, workers in plumbing, pipefitting, steamfitting and pipelaying had a su***de rate of 49.4 deaths per 100,000 workers in 2021. That number should get our attention — these are our brothers and sisters. And just like we look out for each other on the jobsite, we should look out for each other when it comes to mental health, too.

🔥 Keep your welding skills sharp with open welding from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 19! THIS IS A MEMBERS-ONLY OPPORTUNITY.

The Decatur JATC will have open welding on the third Saturday of every month. We have a limited number of welding booths available, so please call Chris Moss at 217-544-2724 to reserve your spot.

This week is Construction Su***de Prevention Week, and Local Union 137 is asking members to look out for one another.

You never know what someone is carrying — and a simple conversation could make a difference. Take a minute to check in with a brother or sister. Ask how they’re doing. Listen without judgment. Let them know they don’t have to handle things alone.

Looking out for each other is what brotherhood is all about. It's part of who we are as a union. Local 137 will always have your back.

After the incredible success of last year’s event, we’re excited to bring back the Harvest Food Drive and make an even bigger impact this year!

In partnership with the Central Illinois Building and Construction Trades Council, donations will once again support Springfield Public Schools District 186, helping make sure students have enough food to eat at home.

Bring your family and come celebrate Labor Day with Local 137! Parade information for Monday, Sept. 7, is below.

📍 Pana
Line up at 9 a.m. behind the Pana Library. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. Find Trever Loafman, who will have Local 137 shirts and candy to hand out.

📍 Decatur
Line up around 9 a.m. near East Wood Street, toward the front of the parade lineup. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. sharp. Look for the trailer and find Scott Hohimer, Aaron Gurnsey or Josh Prasun for Local 137 shirts and candy.
