One last big iris order to fill for the year for the local iris society. We have decided to not do any shipping this year. We went from hot and overly wet and worry of rot, to extremely hot and super dry. Many of the iris varieties went summer dormant from the drought. Lots of watering the trench/terrace iris rows here. If you are local, we are supplying iris for the local iris society fall sale. It will be this Saturday September 19th at the Nathaniel Greene botanical center 2400 S Scenic Ave Springfield Mo 65807. Currently getting the iris trimmed and labeled in the shade. Making the best of it in the record setting heat. We were able to make a trip to north Missouri earlier this week to a friends garden to do a big dig, and combine with some that are growing good here. There will be a nice selection of varieties, many newer, but limited numbers on some. The sale starts at 9am and they usually sell out fast. We want to thank all the customers we had this year and looking forward to next spring and hopefully some better weather!

My apologies on the late post. We normally start posting about doing summer shipping after bloom season. This year has been a big weather challenge. From the late freeze to the baseball size hail, hot wet weather raising rot risk. We think it’s best to hold off doing any sales until later this summer. We will be supplying the local iris society here with iris for their sale in September. We plan to list what’s available for shipping in August, might do a website to ease ordering. It would be much better to dig/divide and ship all the iris then and to allow for beardless and bearded iris orders. Many of our customers prefer to plant closer to fall, to avoid the harsh summer temps. We hope everyone is having a great summer! I will post updates later. Japanese iris Butterflies in flight below. More iris blooming. If coming to visit it’s best to check out this album for iris that have already finished up, bloom is pretty scattered. We had limited bloom from the freeze and then we had baseball size hail, that took out a few! Amazing these look so good after going through that. It’s fine to message an order for local pick up. Still just doing local sales.

If you are local and know someone nearby who’s missing their sheep. They showed up here today. They seemed to go around the iris pretty good and are fairly tame. *update owners located. They traveled 3.3miles.

More iris blooming. Some damaged from the hailstorm and rain. Getting some fresh flowers opening up. Still a lot of nice newer quality varieties.
