My two latest paintings. The first, "Start of the race" is another in my sailboat racing series. The second one, "Origins of the river" is more abstract than most of my landscapes. Let me know what you think. I have yet to put either one on my website, http://www.michaelbassis.com

These are a few of my newest works. Didn't do them with a theme in mind but perhaps they depict a bit about how I'm seeing the world these days. To sum it up I would say. "It's been a long cold night but the dawn brings new hope"!
Let me know what you think.

When I was growing up, my family owned a small summer cottage in Stockbridge MA. It's an iconic New England village that was home to a number of interesting people - most notably Norman Rockwell in the '50's and Arlo Guthrie in the '60's. The town is situated in the Berkshire Mountains, as iconic as a landscape as Stockbridge is as a village, known particularly for the beauty of its colorful fall foliage. There was one particular scene I found so spectacular that it has been etched in my head ever since. I've tried to capture that image in "Misty River", the oil painting I'm giving away to celebrate the opening of my new website. If you haven't yet done so, I hope you will enter the drawing for this painting by clicking on this link: http://www.michaelbassis.com/new-website-giveaway
