YEAR 2….in the books. Happy Birthday MYSTIC PICNIC!!

Full disclosure y’all….year 2 was more challenging than the first. How is it possible that we could see the growth that we have…but the daily stress of keeping the doors open has became more and more intense, not easier?? It’s something we’re learning to navigate. This stuff is not for the faint of heart y’all. I guess that’s why most people don’t do it! That being said…if you have a dream or an idea that won’t leave you alone, and you are willing to put everything on the line to try and bring it to life…DO IT. Open that bakery, that record store, that community center, whatever it is that keeps nagging at you (and that you have the relevant experience to actually manifest)….f%*%+ #+ing do it!!! Guess what, even if it only lasts for a year of your life, that’s a year of learning/growing & contributing something to the local landscape instead of waking up one day when you’re older and wishing you had taken that chance. That’s exactly what it is too…a chance. To put it super bluntly…we take that chance everyday we open that enough people will show up, so that we’ll be able to open the next day. If you don’t show up, all of our inspiration, our creativity, our hard work…kind of just goes to waste…and that can be very devastating after a while. Again, not for the faint of heart.
HOWEVER, you (our regulars) have continued to show up for us. So thank you/thank you/thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Let’s see if we can do this again…cheers to the year ahead!!!
