Which came first? The plumber or the electrician? One of these people did not have any cares to give about the other.

"Just throw some new decking over it and nail the attic access shut." said the people who's quality of work is what makes home inspections so important.

Sewer scoping is a great way to check the condition of either your septic system or your sewer line to the city connection. Just because the water is not currently backing up doesn't mean a major issue isn't lurking in those pipes. When we found this blockage, we were running water past it but it's only a matter of time and this line will be completely blocked.

Radon levels of 4.0 pCi/l (picocuries per liter) or higher in a home require remediation according to the EPA. When we tested this property, results showed an average reading of 64.8 pCi/l! That’s a lot of radioactive and carcinogenic gas existing inside a home for occupants to breath. While this is certainly an extreme case, it doesn’t take 64.8 pCi/l of radon in your home to cause negative health effects. Testing your home is affordable and doesn’t interrupt your daily routine.

PS – The radon monitor used for this test was tested for proper function after seeing these extreme results. Unfortunately, the monitor was working properly, and the results were determined to be accurate.

Doing a roof inspection this morning, I kept hearing a strange noise from the house next door. Took a few minutes but finally found an example of why it’s important to maintain your soffits and close any gaps. Not the most common type of intruder but still not wanted.

Here is a downspout drain system installation I just finished. This drain system moves rain and AC condensate water away from the home, protecting the foundation from heaving and settling soil that causes foundation movement and cracking. Also, this system helps prevent water from entering your crawlspace and causing mold, fungus, and other elevated moisture issues. While this is a labor-intensive job, drains like these prevent those nasty issues that cost more and are harder to fix. If you are interested in having this affordable and home-protecting feature installed, please reach out for your free estimate! 417-849-1973
