LPC licenses are bigger in Texas.

I am SO excited to announce that I received my LPC licensure from Texas today!! I had a potential client in TX contact me a little over 2 months ago and they were willing to wait for me to go through the licensing process so that we could work together via telehealth. 🥹

Later this year, the Counseling Compact is going into effect for states that have legislated licensing reciprocity, which means that professional counselors can practice across state borders without having to apply for new licenses. HOWEVER, TX is one of a handful of states who have not even *introduced* this legislation yet. (See more here: https://counselingcompact.org/map/) So I am absolutely thrilled to be able to offer telehealth and my specialties to Texans. Can’t wait to get started. 🫶🏻

I’m in the early stages of a deep-dive into all things culty so that I can (hopefully soon) add cult deprogramming and recovery to my specializations. I have really been enjoying this podcast, and Dan Shaw, the guest on this particular episode, gave the best parting advice at the end of it. While he addresses it to cult survivors, I think it applies to all of us who want to be better people and are inundated by industry after industry trying to sell us the answers:

“You thought, in the cult, that you were going to have a transcendent express train to enlightenment, and in fact, nobody gets that, nobody has it, and you’re just going to have to trudge along like a normal human being, trying to learn and grow as you go. And that’s a beautiful thing.”

Just keep trudging. And trust yourself to find your own answers. ♥️

February 1st reminded me that I should probably say Happy New-ish Year and post pictures of my new-ish office! 😆 I’ve been on the 4th floor now for FIVE months but I still love walking into it every day. 🫶
