Our Springboro sports seasons may be over for the school year, but there is still a *lot* of competition happening this summer! πΆ
Rising SHS junior Matthew Cooper is one of 27 local rowers representing the Dayton Boat Club at the US Rowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida this week!
Matthew and his teammates qualified by placing second in the Men's U17 8+ race and third in the Men's U17 4+ at Regionals. π₯π₯
Recent SHS graduate Paige Kopittke is also part of the DBC. She helped her boat to a first place finish in the Women's Varsity 8 race at a regatta in Michigan last month and is gearing up for her first year as a collegiate rower at the University of Toledo! π₯
Good luck to Matthew, Paige, and all the DBC rowers! πΎ

As the year wrapped up, SI students enjoyed some time on the golf course, thanks to the hard work of rising SHS senior David Huss.β³
David designed and built nine mini golf holes for his Eagle Scout project and donated them to SI for students to use during their annual mini golf math project, meant to help them learn how to find the area of 2D polygons. π¦π·
Before testing out the course, students first had to design their own. In small groups, they came up with themes and then calculated the area of each hole and the price of carpet to cover it, taking obstacles, starting mats, and the hole itself into consideration. πβοΈ
After completing their designs and calculations, students exchanged peer feedback before submitting their final projects.
To celebrate, they tested out a real life version of their lesson by playing Davidβs golf course! π
Now that is some pro level collaboration! Well done! π―πΎ

The Boro Education Foundation is quickly becoming a game changer for our teachers and staff! π«π
This spring, the foundation launched a new grant program to fund school and classroom projects.
After reviewing applications, founding members Charles Anderson and Rebekah Giuffre proudly presented a check at this week's school board meeting for $6,494 to support 10 projects across the district!
Because of these donations, staff will be able to...
-create a new outdoor library at Clearcreek Elementary π
-increase student movement and teamwork with new materials at the junior high π€
-provide primary source resources for high school government students π½
-build a life skills work space simulation for students with special needs πΌ
-install 3D printers for STEM classes at Dennis Elementary π€
-purchase a television to display announcements in the high school counseling office πΊ
And the list goes on! Be on the lookout for updates next school year as we see these grants put into action.
Thank you to Charles, Rebekah, and the entire Boro Education Foundation team for helping these awesome educators continue to make a positive impact on our students in new ways!
If you'd like to learn more about the foundation or get involved, please check out their website. We've linked it in our comments! πΎ

If you see this group walk into your next Trivia Night, you may want to try and join their team!
For the first time ever, Springboro High School qualified for the largest quiz bowl event in the country, hosted by the National Academic Quiz Tournament (NAQT)! π
Six members of the SHS Academic Team traveled to Atlanta a few weeks ago where they competed against 320 teams at the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament. ποΈ
As new quizzers on the national championship block, Austin Patch, Quinn Harty, Matthew Cooper, Felix Buten, Keeran Patel, and Evan Wilson represented Springboro well, answering questions about everything from history and literature to current events and pop culture. They finished the weekend 3-7, with two very close games! π
The group hopes to be back at nationals next year to continue climbing up the leaderboard!
Congratulations to the team and Coach Segi! πΎ
