Announcement;
As many of you know Daisha has been committed to a full time program of gymnastics; in a goal to make it to the US national team, full boat scholarship to the university of her dreams, and possibly the 2024 Olympic Games.
In the recent months, Daisha has struggled with life changing thoughts as she started to mature into her young adult body and mind. Daisha has overcome some great obstacles to include coming back from a major injury to successfully finishing on top as 1st place AA winner at her regional competition and competing at the prestigious Nastia Luikin competition where she placed 5th in the country for the Junior division beating out some of the best elites and JO competitors in the country. As a mom, I am extremely proud of Daisha. Her retiring from gymnastics shows strength and maturity. Sometimes we question changes like this because of the uncertainty, unknown, and the investment we have made through our sacrifices; but in this case after many weeks of prayer, speaking with my mentors, and allowing God to have full control I am at peace that my daughter is able to finally stand up and use her voice until she’s heard. Above everything, that’s what I desire from my children. To advocate for themselves and for the others who are unable to speak and stand up for themselves. To lead and not to follow. To let adults know you are not always in control and your words hurt and “I have a choice to put up with it or not”. These are lessons even for me because at the end of the day I know she could have achieved those goals I listed above. I know as well as others she could have had a bright future in gymnastics. What I don’t want is for her to short herself if God has a bigger and better opportunity in the future. I am proud of who she is and what she will become regardless or her doing gymnastics or not. This is not the end but only the beginning of something bigger and better.
