Abby whelped 8 GSD puppies on 3/9/23 (see parents & puppies on website).

Today we were able to get our website up & running. Please visit us at AntlerRanchGSD.com to view Abby’s 8 darling little moving balls of fur. They now can crawl over the 2” board we have placed at the pen entrance. Abby can step or jump over it but her stomach almost touches the top. They are 3 weeks & 4 days old and we still have 4 weeks & 3 days to go.
Abby has decided the puppies get no more free meals as they now have teeth , so we have been introducing them to a mixture of yogurt, puppy milk & water. All 8 now are eating out of a bowl, while latching on to mom . Abby won’t lay down so the puppies stand under her.

Supper Time is anyone hungry? The black & tan female in the Orange collar decided she wouldn’t wait for Abby to set the table by laying down. The little all black girl is about to try this new feeding method, while Blade (red)/& Tatter (gray).

Today “socialization” continued as the 8 GSD puppies went outside to play in the sunshine & grass. The example Blake (red collar), orange collar, purple collar, & Tatter (gray collar) decided to retake a nap. The other 4 walked on cement, grass & crawled on the rocks.

Puppy version of “Houston Rodeo Roundup”. To we tried to get pictures of the puppies faces, similar to poses we have seen used by 2 breedersSarah Clark (czechworkingdogs.com, owner of litter sire) & Michelle Kilpatrick (Aus Der Asche German Shepherds - breeder of Abby). We tried to have all 8 lined up on a sofa so we could kneel and take pictures at eye level.
Mix in Abby circling around us, and you have a rodeo as all 8 can see & smell mom after all it is breakfast time. For fun try catching these little angles crawling toward the edge while trying to catch & replace them while taking pictures.

After an evening outside the pen, supper from mom, the 6 girls & 2 males crashed in there bigger pen. Mom being smart (like all moms) knows her place, in the smaller (4’ x 4’) pen as she catches a few winks.

Today as a change of pace we moved the 8 GSD puppies out of the pen & let them crawl on a sheet that was covering our living room carpet. They really enjoy the extra space before taking a nap.

Yesterday our 8 little GSD puppies opened their eyes & today the were starting to walk around, or should I say, all over each other. They were playing King on the Mountain as their brothers & sister were the mountain. It was something to witness, my granddaughters were over and found it hilarious.

To my granddaughter was over & spent some time with the puppies while Abby was feeding them. All of them are now getting their legs under them & are trying to walk. Of coarse the tails are always going.
Today is day 8 for our new little 8 GSD (puppies) and they have almost doubled in weight. They are starting to get their legs under them but not walking yet, but they are close. They are so much fun to watch, and Abby is so good. Today our granddaughters were over and there was no problem with them petting & holding them. However was right there giving her approval and checking each puppy.
