Today is the day. Happy Jubilee, my FIF family! Thank God for His steadfast faithfulness to our church family. Let us pray for His continued guidance in our lives, for renewed strength, and that our congregation may keep growing in grace, love, and service to others.🙏🏻😇

Beyond the Nest: Mid-Life with Purpose.🙏🏻😇
“The Beatitudes” help us become better people. They are not a checklist of attitudes to cultivate so God will smile on you. They are an announcement. The world Isaiah promised has shown up, and it has shown up in Jesus himself, and the people it is good news for are the ones who have been waiting in the dark for someone to come and bind them up.
That is what Jesus is doing in Matthew 5. He is saying, in different ways, good news. Good news for the people who thought they had been forgotten. Good news for the people whose grief no one else has been able to comfort. Good news for the ones with no leverage. Good news for the ones still hungry and thirsty for things to be made right. Jesus is not describing a life we can produce by trying harder. He is inviting us into a life he alone makes possible and forms in us by his Spirit.
The Kingdom is not a future reward for people who have managed to become sad enough, humble enough, or hungry enough. It is the place where Isaiah 61 is finally coming true in Jesus. And because that Kingdom has arrived in him, the people he names are being invited into a life they could never create for themselves.
Hold this proclamation in your mind when you go back to the Beatitudes. Allow the good news of who it is for change how you hear every word that comes after.🥰
