One of the very first albums I downloaded onto my iPod shuffle as a young kid was Beyoncé’s 4. I grew up listening to Destiny’s Child and her as a solo artist. Her astonishing vocals and unbelievable performances had me mesmerized and in complete adoration. Her creativity, her tenacity, her ferocity, her musicianship, her talents, her independence, and her work ethic have inspired my path as a female artist to this day. Her humility, her grace, her advocacy, her professionalism, her attitude, and her strength were all things that helped guide me when I needed it most. Anyone who knows me knows I could go on about this woman for hours at a time because she is very important to me and her work is very close to my heart. She taught me to stand up for myself as a female artist in the industry. That I deserve to be treated with respect. She taught me that talent and musicianship will always be important. That there will always be people that care about important works of art. She taught me to never sacrifice quality for what’s easy. That no matter what you do, there will always be critics. She taught me to watch out for Becky with the good hair. That best revenge is your paper. She taught me that I’m beautiful and powerful. That confidence will always be sexy. She taught me that there will always be people out there that love your music if you love it. That it’s not impossible for me. I was lucky enough to be able to see Beyoncé perform in Las Vegas, the last location of her Cowboy Carter Tour. Of course, she did not disappoint and exceeded all of my expectations!🤩 I don’t really know how it was possible for her to become any more beautiful in person and for me to adore her any more than I did before, but it happened. I’m forever changed. Best. Concert. Ever.
