I recently installed this piece at a patrons home with a very nice contemporary art collection. It’s nice to be in such company.

This is what the inside of a pugmill looks like. The blades, an auger, push the clay through the shredder, the disk with holes in it. After passing through the shredder the air is pulled out of the clay by a vacuum pump and then the clay continues on through the barrel of the pugmill (the barrel fits over all of those blades) and the clay continues on being compressed by a narrowing chamber and comes out ready to bag for later use. This is also what I look like after fifty years of making pots for a living. Still smiling and happy to be doing what I do. Thanks to Frank Mearns for helping with the job of cleaning out the pugmill and taking the photo. So the song, “Happy to be Here” is apropos. As Paul Soldner would say “keep on getting dirty”.

Stoneware piece with additions. Still in the greenware state, I’ll post after it’s fired.

A few greenware pieces with this spiky thing I’m working on.

Ceramic, paint and string wall sculpture, 22”. I’m intriguing figurative, abstraction and surrealism into this piece. Color from what I call “room temperature glaze”.

A collection of teapots, most yet to be glazed.
