day 18
From a delicious brunch with my mother in law where I had one of the tastiest salads I’ve ever eaten.

Meant to experiment with adding rain drops on the window, but I forgottt. Guess that’s an idea for another one! I keep forgetting I have free will when doing these lol. Shoutout to a friend who knows who they are, I did use a perspective grid so bite me.

What happens in Vegas… gets painted.
Sheesh this month is flying by but I feel like I’ve been painting in circles. I wish I had more constructive direction but cheers to blindly marching forward (?hopefully)

From driving through Wisconsin with my friends last summer. The bellies always mean a good time, no matter where we are.

Over halfway! I’m hitting that point where I’m expecting more from myself, but I’m always doing that 😩

From one of my open water swims last year but don’t ask me where I am. Featuring the lake’s “monster”.

One thing I’ve learned to appreciate during this hellscape that is the ai-era… I find myself caring about perfection so much less, and being able to follow the passion itch while painting. Because we’ve seen what “perfected” (or maybe “perfectly expected”?) art looks like now and it sucks.

day 14
Benson’s golden birthday was the other day, but I found myself drawing Mill the next day 😂 I’ll end with Ben, because that’ll be on her bday lol. These pals are the entire light of my life.

Did this one quickly on the plane before my iPad died lol

Why have I been seeing everything so pastel recently?? More practice I guess. I did yesterday’s on the plane - just haven’t posted yet!

Whipped this one together while flying to my bestie’s Bach party. Donnie and I were able to spot our house at takeoff, and I like to think Millie was looking up at the sky like she always does. Love you baby girl, I’m ready to kiss your snout already and we just left 😭

My first morning glory bloom last year - I hope it does as well this year! Checking on it each morning was one of my fav parts of the day. I’m so ready to get gardening again!

Of the several years I’ve done these monthly challenges, never have I scrapped a painting to try a new one for the day. Until today. I had been working on one for hours when I realized I wasn’t going anywhere with it and started a new painting at midnight. I wasn’t even halfway through, but I was just fighting every stroke and I already hated it. I’m planning to go back to it, but with less pressure. This one came sooo much more naturally and showed me how to have fun again. I’ll revisit you by the end of the month, mark my words!
Also, I go into these thinking “oh it’s going to be so soft and boldly colored and moody” and then I’m just like “why does it look like a pastel y2k themed tumblr though” by the end. Practice makes better I guess.

Focused on keep contrast while really limiting my value range. I think I let the painting get away from me in the meantime but I’m mostly happy with the mood I could get.

Took this pic on the way home from a Beyoncé themed dance night with my hunny and some fishnets.

Think I oversimplified in some places on this one, but I’m still pleased with how quick the layers came together. A lot of elements and lighting impact I was trying to capture.
