Replacing the power supply and the video card in Clint’s iMac. Found the parts for a ridiculously low cost, and replacing the power supply was super easy. However the video card requires removal of the entire logic board which is going to be one hell of a job! Just getting prepared for it right now with my little case for the screws and my technicians manual that shows exactly how to remove the logic board...

On this 2012 Mac mini, downloaded mountain lion right through the Internet into the machine, then upgraded it to Mavericks right after. I think Mavericks was the last of the classic OS X which is why I like it. Thanks to Josh for the Mac Mini despite the bad logic board I can still get some use out of this, eventually I'll be able to buy a new logic board and then I can make this thing really kick ass.

Duping one WD2500BEKT to another, Western Digital Scorpios, I paid $100 for the one on the right in 2008 and it finally started going out this year. I found a replacement for $27 at Newegg but it's refurbished - but it only had 92 power on hours on it. The other refurbished that I use had something like 20,000 hours on them when I got them, which is about two years of use, apparently this is what happens to hard drives that you return for the RMA- some company takes them and refurbishes them and then sells them again for an extremely discounted price, except that there is no more of that excellent western digital two year warranty.

Copying a 2 TB hard drive to a 3 TB hard drive. Pain in the ass. The 3 TB drive only shows 750 GB when you are in DOS, and trying to run the copy program from there. Had to set it up in Windows 7 with mini tool partition wizard. Using version 7.61 because version 8 doesn't run on Hiren's BootCD. "Now we must face the long dark of Moria" - Gandalf the Grey (in other words it's going to take all day to copy 1.5 GB worth of data)

Images from the past, saw one of these today, at The Salvation Army on 70th and El Cojones Blvd. They wanted 300 bucks for it! Basically, it is a Portable Computer, a tiny Monochrome Monitor, a Brushed Aluminum KB w/Number Entry sideboard, and probably an 8088 or an 80186 CPU. It was in Perfect Shape, a beautiful Museum Piece.
