The Destruction of Israel vs 1-10
The Restoration of Israel vs 11-15
For all of their rebellion and their punishment we see Gods heart is restoration. Vs 11-15 “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when the plowman shall overtake the reaper
and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed;
the mountains shall drip sweet w**e,
and all the hills shall flow with it.
I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel,
and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them;
they shall plant vineyards and drink their w**e,
and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.
I will plant them on their land,
and they shall never again be uprooted
out of the land that I have given them,”
says the LORD your God.

Reading Amos 8 ESV
This chapter deals with The Coming Day of Bitter Mourning
Look at verse 2, notice how personal God is, he calls him by name. What religion, or other gods calls people by their name, but our God sees us. That is a comfort in itself!
Vs 2 And he said, “Amos, what do you see?” And I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then the LORD said to me,

When people do not like something, they can go into the accusing mode.

vs 11-12 For behold, the LORD commands,

and the little house into bits.

But you have turned justice into poison
and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood

Theme of this chapter is, yet you did not return to me,”
declares the LORD.

the LORD, the God of hosts, is his name!

Vs 7-8 “For the Lord GOD does nothing
without revealing his secret
to his servants the prophets.
The lion has roared;
who will not fear?
The Lord GOD has spoken;
who can but prophesy?”
He stills speaks through His prophets today.

Reading Amos 2 NLT
Both Israel and Judah have sinned.
Vs 4 This is what the LORD says:
“The people of Judah have sinned again and again,
and I will not let them go unpunished!
They have rejected the instruction of the LORD,
refusing to obey his decrees.
They have been led astray by the same lies
that deceived their ancestors.
Vs12 But you caused the Nazirites to sin by making them drink w**e,
and you commanded the prophets, ‘Shut up!’
