By the direction of the Fire Chief, the San Miguel CERT will be activated today Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 1200. The purpose is to assist Food distribution Operations for Feeding San Diego and the San Diego Food Bank during the COVID-19 incident. Email will be going out with further details.
San Miguel CERT's Second Saturday drills have been cancelled until further notice.

You’re invited! The National Center for Disaster Preparedness, Columbia University, will be conducting a free live virtual pilot training of FEMA Course: PER-383: Improving Individual and Households' Financial Literacy and Management to Support Post-Disaster Economic Recovery on Thursday, March 19th, 2020, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm (PDT)
Course Description: This live virtual training will address improving individual and household financial literacy to strengthen community preparedness for economic recovery after a disaster. We are piloting this training and want your insights into ways to improve it. Ultimately, we expect that this training will inform economic recovery for communities and households across the country. This is a half-day course.
Course Objectives:
• Identify key elements of individual/household financial literacy, including critical components of pre-disaster planning.
• Recognize key ways to coordinate intermediate and long-term plans among whole-community partners who can support individual/household financial recovery.
• Identify components of a personal economic recovery plan that incorporates resources from public, private, and volunteer agencies.
• Restate individual/household action steps for increasing disaster financial readiness in a disaster financial management strategy.
Target Audience: This live virtual training is available to the whole community of San Diego, California including managers and leaderships of state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, emergency management agencies and offices, economic development organizations, non-profits, chamber of commerce representatives, members of financial institutions, first responders, public health partners, business owners, community groups that work with individuals on financial literacy efforts, and the public.
