Summit Bass Anglers held our fourth tournament of the year yesterday. For this tournament, our anglers got to choose which lake they fished on. Several anglers hiked up to Lake Skinner, another group went to Lake Otay and one angler chose Lake San Vicente. Of the twelve anglers who fished there were 7 limits of bass caught with the biggest bass a 5.1 lb which was caught by Kevin Bates. Kevin was the eventual tournament winner with his limit of 13.4lbs.

Our playground for our tournament yesterday was Lake Otay and our anglers played nicely. The bite was tough, but Tony Cabral made it look easy catching a limit by 7:00am and ending up with 15.0lbs which was enough for the Win. Kevin Bates had a limit of bass coming in at 12.6lbs which was good for second place. Trusty old Matt Ruggiero keeping us on our toes had a limit of bass coming in at 12.4lbs for third place. This was Tony Cabral's second win this year. Congratulations Tony.

What a great weekend to fish the Lower Colorado River for our second tournament this year. Eight anglers made the trip to Yuma for our two day tournament. The fishing was great during practice and during the tournament, our anglers were able to convert and find some very nice fish. Tournament big fish was a six pounder daylight by Jay Wilson who ultimately ended up in second place. Matt Ruggiero bagged over 33lbs including a 5.8 lb bass for the win. Ian Bates was third with 22 lbs.
Saturday night everyone feasted on grilled NY strip steaks and bake potatoes. We also had some awesome grilled kingfish steaks provided by Mike Lerwill. It was nice to see Duane Caballero one of our past members who moved to Arizona. Duane made the 3.5 hr trip from Kingman to fish with Jay.
Oh, and the weather was hot.😀

We picked a great day to fish our first tournament of 2026. On this occasion, it was Lake Otay in Chula Vista, California. Eight anglers participated in the tournament and all our anglers had limits of five bass.
Coming in third place with 11.0lbs was Ben Dungca. In second place was Matt Ruggiero. The winner of the tournament was none other than Tony Cabral with five fish weighing 11.6 lbs including a 3.6 lb bass which was the big fish in the tournament.

Yesterday we held a Turkey shoot tournament at Lake Otay. Nine club members and one guest, Vince fished. We got off to a chilly start (44 deg.) and anglers got into an early hot bite. Several anglers had limits by 9am. As it turned out, Kevin won the tournament. Big fish was 3.6 lbs and was shared by Ben, Kevin and Vince.
