Whiskey barrel door—Step 1:
Cut the hoop to match your door width.
I use the outer edges of the staves as my guide so everything lines up clean and stays uniform.
Bonus points if your doing it in Crocs or flip flops... because Why Not?
Enough to make my hand hurt after drilling the holes and inserting the screws.
Each hoop gets around 25-35 screws depending on the staves sizes and location of the hoops.
I try to make them as unison as I can for design purposes.
You can do the overall math per each barrel you see in the world.
Do I drill every hole to secure the hoops? Yes, every one, every time.
I’m not lazy like others who only secure where they plan to cut.
I drill every hole and keep it uniform, because details matter.
It is time consuming and doesn't add profit to the project but it's part of the design, not an afterthought.
Let's make a Whiskey Barrel American Flag using 2 staves.
Prior to starting, ensure you sand off majority of the char from the inside use and lightly sand the outside to get rid of the ugliness while keeping its uniqueness.

This massive maple endgrain cutting board with custom engraving and juice groove was a total beast. It was a custom order for a permanent location on an island. It weighed almost 19lbs and I installed these one of a kind non-slip feet for it.
Luckily the customer had quite a bit of patience and was happy with the results and look of it.

Perfect example of an idea coming together late. I originally made the North Carolina States years ago and they sat around with me not knowing how to finish them. There was a lot of overthinking, then it came to me, why not paint a pattern in typical colors reflecting the state. The argyle pattern is great and I love how they turned out. I plan on making more with different patterns and different colors.
It is perfect wall decor for any wall in the house and many people have told me how they love them.
