Nasha is ready to find her forever home – this time with a knowledgeable owner. She is a gem and if you have any approved adopters who may be a fit please let me know –
Nasha is a stunning, 3 year old yellow Labrador Retriever. She is such a sweet dog - she loves people and gets excited for new things. She is an amazing addition to the household as she is house trained, crate trained, and will follow your lead in the house. She responds well to her name when not distracted ( if distracted, a treat definitely does the trick.) She had a history of trying to dart out an open door but within 24 hrs and an alpha atmosphere she learned to “wait” as she would rather do that and get her treats. She responds very quickly to training because she loves being rewarded. She is a good alert dog - if she hears something on TV or outside it will trigger her to bark, but if reassured that it’s OK she chills out quickly. She will be calm if you are calm. She will play with her toys if you throw them around inside or outside. She is young at heart and joyful.
When walking, she responds well to commands. She needs structure and responds very quickly when reenforced with treats. If a duck or squirrel appears, a reminder to heal and a treat keep her focused. She has not tried to get on furniture, however, she is very smart and if she is spoiled she will do as she pleases. Nasha is a better dog if you are the alpha
Would you like to adopt this sweet girl and continue teaching her? Dogs need rules so they know how to behave and not do as they please. Nasha needs somebody who can instill guidelines and then slowly adjust them as you both get comfortable with each other. She would love a home with a fenced in yard so she can chase lizards. She is a gentle soul. Nasha is a rare find - a smart, beautiful girl with a gentle soul. Nasha is being fostered in Davie. Apply at SSLR.org or reach out to your adoption counselor

Greetings, ladies and gents! If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion, I just might be your girl.
I'm Cara, a beautiful 7-year-old yellow Lab weighing 82 pounds. My foster mom lovingly calls me Princess Cara because of my sweet personality and impeccable manners. I have a gentle nature, love being around people, and never turn down a good snuggle.
A few things to know about me:
💛 Friendly and affectionate
🐾 Great with other dogs
🚶 Excellent leash manners
🏡 Crate trained and well-behaved
🐱 I haven't met any cats yet
Whether we're taking a leisurely walk or relaxing together at home, I'm happiest when I'm with my people.
I'm currently being fostered in Dunedin and can't wait to meet the family who will make me their princess forever. Could that be you? Apply at SSLR.org

🎉 Exciting update for Rio! 🎉
SSLR is thrilled to work with Magic City K9, an incredible prison dog training program in Miami, to provide Rio six weeks of dedicated professional training. Rio just hit the half way mark and is doing great!
Rio lives and works full-time with his inmate trainer at Everglades Correctional Institution, learning valuable skills that will help him become an even more amazing companion. We’re so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to watch him grow.
Rio is a wonderful 2-year-old yellow Lab; house-trained, loving, great with other dogs, and a world-class cuddler. With a little polishing and guidance, this handsome boy will be ready to make one lucky family very happy.
Good luck, Rio! We can’t wait to see you shine! To see all available dogs and to apply, visit our website SSLR.org

Tippy and Tara's Tremendous Transport! Sweet pups Tara and Tippy made a long journey from Walton County Shelter to Wildwood, where SSLR volunteers Larry and Gabrielle met them and transported them to New Port Richey. Pat and Lewis then drove the girls to Seffner to meet their foster parents Michael and Josh. They were wonderful passengers and are comfy in their foster home. Their full bio's will soon be appearing on the SSLR website(SSLR.org) soon!. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped Tippy and Tara, including our shelter and transport partners.

Thanks to the village of volunteers who are helping adoptable Lucy Lou! Among those are Jenny and Jim, who met Lucy Lou's surrenderer at our vet partner, Animal Medical Hospital in St Pete. They got her checked in and the vet staff did a wonderful job with Lucy. She was picked up the next day by transporter Bernie, who met Pat and Lewis so that Lucy could get a ride to her foster home. Chris welcomed Lucy to her comfy foster home with foster sis Lily.
