Apparently Basic B Bakery is VERY popular with scammers this week. 😂😭

Or maybe some of you are real people who just enjoy getting my hopes up and then ghosting me. I genuinely don’t know anymore. 😂

I keep getting messages like, “Hi! I love your work and I’d like to order a cake!”

And every single time I’m like...

OMG AN ORDER!!

I answer. I ask the date. I ask what they need. I start mentally calculating whether I can fit another cake into my week...

And then... nothing.

Or the conversation gets progressively weirder until I realize, yep, scam. 🙄

WHY DO Y’ALL DO THIS TO SMALL BUSINESSES?! 😂

Do you know how exciting that little notification is when you own a bakery?! I’m over here thinking someone wants cake and meanwhile somebody on the other side of the internet is apparently trying to figure out how to scam a woman with buttercream.

So yes, it’s comical.
It’s also annoying as hell.
And I am now suspicious of EVERYONE.

To the actual humans who really do want cake... I promise I’m happy to hear from you. Please just don’t disappear after I answer you. 😂🎂💜

These little mermaid cookies turned out so freaking cute! The shells, the tail, the starfish, the colors... I love this set so much. 😍

And a HUGE thank you to a fellow local cookier who absolutely came in clutch and let me borrow the cutters I needed for this order. THIS is what I mean when I say collaboration over competition. There is plenty of room for all of us to create, help each other and succeed. 💜

These tech cookies almost took me OUT 😂

I had the vision. I had the colors. I had the cute little circuit board details.

What I did NOT have was green icing that wanted to cooperate. 🤦🏼‍♀️ It was way too thin, several cookies were sacrificed, and yes... I had to rebake and remake more than I would like to admit.

But that’s baking sometimes! Not every order comes together perfectly on the first try, and I think it’s important to show that part too.

A little frustration, a few replacement cookies, and we made it to the finish line. 🙌🏼
