Dripping with Kids

Our last-minute decision to meet friends in Cedar Park turned into a multi-stop day trip worthy of a return visit!

On our next visit, we’ll definitely add in the Family Sky Trail at Twin Lakes YMCA and a visit to the free Steam Train Museum. What are the other must-do’s in Cedar Park?

The week started with back to school gifts that included kits to grow their own Venus Fly Traps and ended with a visit to a carnivorous plant nursery with some of the most interesting plants around. This is just one of the aspects of homeschooling that I love —- A random gift idea turned into an impromptu week-long nature unit that ended with discovering a unique small business in our small town and feeding worms to plants. 💚 🪴 Carnivero
Side note: One thing we learned at Carnivero is that the leaf of a Venus fly trap can only close 3 times during its leaf-life-span, so we vowed never again to trick one into closing or feed it non-live food.

This is such a great time to go! The water is cold, flowing, and beautiful. The night was cool and breezy. The park isn’t too crowded, and the dance is still going each night for a few more weeks (but may not have as full of a dance floor as earlier in the summer).
I really enjoyed this quick little escape before the school year and sports schedules rule our calendars. I’m also really proud of us setting up and breaking down camp without my husband’s help. 💪

These may not look like library events, but they are! Mahjong at the Winery and a guided hike at Westcave Preseve are just two of the unique events the Dripping Springs Community Library has been planning and hosting this summer. I’m a little late to the party on checking out Leona Botanical Café & Bar, but I’m glad I finally made it. Even summer mornings feel blissful and cool at this fantastic spot for coffee, breakfast, a short stroll, play date, and/or a little work time. They’re open all day and host evening events as well, including World Cup watch parties.
