🍍🥥 Piña Colada Sunrise Shots
A creamy tropical cocktail combining coconut rum, pineapple, orange, grenadine, and coconut cream with a beautiful sunrise gradient.
Makes: 3 drinks
Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
3 oz (90 ml) coconut rum, such as Malibu
3 oz (90 ml) pineapple juice
3 oz (90 ml) orange juice
1½ oz (45 ml) grenadine
1½ oz (45 ml) cream of coconut
1½–2 cups crushed ice
Toasted shredded coconut for the rims
Simple syrup or lime juice for ri***ng
Garnish: pineapple wedges, maraschino cherries, and optional pineapple leaves.
Instructions
Prepare the glasses: Coat each rim lightly with simple syrup or lime juice, then dip into toasted shredded coconut.
Create the red layer: Pour ½ oz grenadine into the bottom of each glass. Add a small amount of crushed ice.
Make the tropical layer: Add coconut rum, pineapple juice, and orange juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for about 10–15 seconds.
Build the sunrise: Slowly pour the tropical mixture over the back of a spoon into each glass. The grenadine will stay toward the bottom, creating the gorgeous red → orange → golden yellow gradient.
Add the creamy top: Stir the cream of coconut until smooth. Gently spoon ½ oz over the top of each drink for a creamy white Piña Colada finish.
Garnish: Add plenty of crushed ice, then decorate each glass with a pineapple wedge and bright red maraschino cherry.
Frozen version: Blend the coconut rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, cream of coconut, and about 1½ cups of ice until thick and slushy. Pour grenadine into the glasses first, then slowly add the frozen mixture on top.
