This weekend our Cadre and soon-to-be-commissioned 400s visited Gettysburg National Military park on their Staff-ride.
The Cadets toured the battlefield in chronological order, starting at McPherson’s Ridge and ending at the High-water mark of the Confederacy. Each Cadet was tasked with briefing a portion of the battle, while Cadre reinforced those briefings and provided more lessons learned.
The battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863) was a major turning point in the Civil War. Meade’s Army of the Potomac (Union) faced off against Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia (Confederate). At the end of the three day conflict, around 51,000 Americans were wounded, missing, or killed.

This summer CDT Kaitlyn Kilgore traveled to Morocco as part of the ROTC department's Cultural & Leadership Program (CULP). She started with a visit to the embassy, learning about different jobs and opportunities there. Then, she spent 10 days at the Royal Military Academy working with Moroccan equipment and learning local customs. She had discussions with Moroccan Soldiers on various topics including US and Moroccan politics, holidays, and what Moroccan life was like. After the academy the remaining days were spent traveling to different cities such as Meknès, Rabat and Essaouria where she learned more about the Moroccan culture. Throughout the trip CDT Kilgore held various leadership roles within her group including squad leader, Intel officer (S2), and Operations officer (S3) to provide additional leadership experience.
