Tire Collection/Recycling Event Saturday, October 10, 2026 @ Sandstone Charter Twp Office, 7940 County Farm Rd. from 11am-1pm. Passenger tires without rims will be accepted during these hours from Spring Arbor residents. Sorry we can’t take heavy truck tires, tractor tires, or tires from businesses. Tires should be clean of waste and water. No early drop offs. We also need volunteers to help with our event. If you would be willing to stack some tires we really need some help. Summit Township will begin its Fall fire hydrant flushing program on SEPTEMBER 28, 2026.
Hydrant flushing will take place between 7:00am and 3:30pm Monday-Friday and is expected to be completed by October 8.
Flushing is necessary to wash iron and other sediment out of the water mains. The sediment does not affect water quality, but can cause water to become discolored.
The water is safe to drink and discoloration often disappears within a short time.
Residents are advised to not wash clothing while lines are being flushed in their area and for motorists to slowdown and use caution if driving past a hydrant being flushed.

Sandstone Rd in Spring Arbor Twp, between McCain and Slayton is now OPEN for traffic. Thanks to JCDOT, EGLE and everyone’s patience during this time.

Environmental Tip: We need your help. If cooking oil, kitchen grease or fat from poultry and meat is washed down the drain, it can collect in pipes and cause sewer backups, basement flooding, or sewage spills to the environment. Costly clean-up work can raise the sewer use rate in your bill. instead, discard grease in the garbage.

Due to rain in the forecast, this event has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26 at the same time and place. We hope you will able to attend.
