It is satisfying to watch these gorgeous blooms transition from fresh summer flowers into the soft, muted tones we love for drying.

This week we’re cutting our Limelights at just the right stage—when the blooms have started to develop that beautiful papery feel and are ready to preserve their shape and color.

From the garden to the drying room, each stem is carefully harvested so we can enjoy these beauties long after the growing season ends. And this crop is looking so good!

MEET MONDRIAAN DAHLIA.
Bold, beautiful, and impossible to miss! The Mondriaan dahlia brings a gorgeous mix of warm, creamy tones with striking color variation that makes every bloom a little different.

One of the things we love most about growing dahlias is watching each variety reveal its personality in the garden—and Mondriaan certainly knows how to make an entrance! These blooms add so much depth and interest to our late-season flower harvests.

SPRINKLER TIME IS A GOOD TIME!
The ducks heard the sprinkler turn on and immediately decided it was their personal water park! They splashed, waddled, drank, and had the absolute best time cooling off.

Honestly, we think they’re pretty spoiled!

The rustling sound of strawflower clicking together is like none other.

It’s almost like nature’s version of beautiful tissue paper!

✨ They feel like paper.
✨ They sound like bacon on the stove.
✨ And they dry beautifully while holding their shape and color.

That little crinkle, crinkle is a favorite sound in the flower field—and it’s a pretty good reminder that these flowers are made for drying!

With its beautiful coloring, layers of petals, and gorgeous form, Ivanetti makes a stunning addition to the late-summer flower garden. And when the dahlia patch is overflowing with blooms, it’s hard to pick a favorite!
