Featured Runner Friday! Meet Ben 🏃♂️🔥
Ben has been running Bloomsday for the past ten years, but this year was different—he committed to training for his first marathon. Growing up with asthma, long runs were always a challenge, and past marathon attempts didn’t stick. But after working with a specialist and starting a twice daily inhaler, everything changed. With more breath and confidence, longer miles finally felt possible.
In summer 2025, Ben started training with his friend (also named Ben!) for the Spokane Marathon. Weekend after weekend, he hit new milestones and distances he’d never reached before.
Race day brought tough hills and the infamous Doomsday at mile 22, but the Spokane River views and city energy kept him going. Crossing the finish line after running every mile was a moment he’ll never forget 🙌
Now he has a whole new respect for distance running and pride in what his body can do. Grateful for the volunteers and already looking forward to more miles ahead. Thank you Ben for sharing your story✨

Featured Runner Friday! Meet Leslie 💙🏃♀️
Leslie found running during COVID as a way to get outside, clear her mind, and challenge herself. What started as a simple outlet quickly turned into a passion for pushing her limits and discovering just how strong she could be.
Her journey hasn’t been easy. A freak accident left her with a broken leg at the peak of training, forcing her to relearn how to walk and run again. But instead of giving up, Leslie turned running into her motivation, setting her sights on completing a half marathon and using that goal to fuel her recovery.
With support from the Fleet Feet running club and a whole lot of determination, she kept showing up. The Spokane Marathon Half became her personal comeback, complete with sneaky hills and hard earned miles.
Eighteen months after surgery, Leslie crossed that finish line stronger than ever 🙌
Her message: trust your body, stay patient, and keep going. For Leslie, running is resilience, growth, and proof that you can come back even stronger ✨

Everyone put your hands together for Monte Pascual 👏🏽🔥
The CDA Marathon marked his 949th marathon and in just 6 days, he’ll take on marathon #950! Even more amazing, this was his 4th time running the CDA Marathon.
What’s truly inspiring isn’t just the number of races, but the humility, consistency, and heart Monte brings to every single mile. Chasing 1,000 marathons by the end of the year is an incredible goal, and he carries it with such grace and positivity that everyone around him feels inspired.
Proof that determination, passion, and humility can take you farther than you ever imagined. 💪🏽🏃♂️

🌟Featured Runner Friday! 🌟
Karen’s love for running started back in high school with cross country and track—and it’s only grown stronger ever since. From her first marathon after college to conquering distances all the way up to 100 miles, running has become her way to explore, dream, and see the world differently.
This past October, she returned to the marathon at the Spokane Marathon—just months after welcoming her daughter, Kestrel, in April. As a mom of two (with a busy three-year-old, too!), balancing training isn’t easy, but running helps her stay grounded, strong, and present.
After getting the green light postpartum, running became her way to reconnect with herself—those quiet miles turning into moments of reflection and strength.
Karen loves the Spokane Marathon for its stunning fall colors, river canyon views, and the perfect mix of community and solitude. Even through cold, wet weather, the energy from volunteers and cheering teams kept her going every step of the way 🍂✨
She looks forward to returning and hopes to inspire her kids to run one day too. Karen is proud to be a mother runner and a lifelong runner at heart. Thank you Karen for sharing your story!
