What housing advocates want Spokane to learn from Atlanta An Atlanta-based housing expert visited the Inland Northwest this week for a public forum on affordable housing solutions.

A child’s first experiences with learning can shape how they see themselves, their community, and their future. Parkview Early Learning Center provides early learning and care for young children while supporting families during these important early years.

Parkview brought its experience working with young children and families to the IAF Pacific Regional Organizing Training, where leaders strengthened their community organizing skills and learned alongside leaders from across the region.

Last night, 100 people came together to talk about what it will take to build more affordable housing in Spokane.

Housing developers and builders, nonprofits, teachers, construction workers, people of faith, community leaders, public officials, and more gathered to learn about new tools for using our public assets to create affordable housing.

This is what it looks like when we bring people together to ask bigger questions about what’s possible.

Every week, congregations across Eastern Washington open their doors for worship, supporting congregations, forming disciples, and serving communities. Behind those ministries are leaders who are continually learning, growing, and building relationships that extend beyond the walls of their own churches.

The Episcopal Diocese of Spokane was one of eleven organizations represented at this year's IAF Pacific Regional Organizing Training. The Diocese reminds us that healthy communities are built through relationships. Whether welcoming neighbors, supporting families in times of need, or creating spaces where people can gather across differences, congregations help weave the social fabric of our region. We are grateful to the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane for bringing that perspective and commitment to the Spokane Alliance.

Spokane Alliance member organizations don't just work for their communities. They invest in the people who lead them.

This summer, leaders from eleven member organizations participated in the IAF Pacific Regional Organizing Training, an intensive five day training in broad based community organizing. Together, they strengthened their organizing skills, deepened their understanding of how change happens, and built relationships with leaders from across the Pacific region.

The lessons don't stay in the classroom. Leaders bring these skills back to their congregations, unions, nonprofits, and community organizations, where they strengthen relationships, develop new leaders, and work alongside others to address issues affecting our communities.

Over the coming weeks, we'll introduce the member organizations that invested in this training and the leaders who are helping build a stronger Spokane.
