This week, Andy Hamilton, DPT from our Nine Mile Falls office, had the pleasure of teaching a fun and interactive class on IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization) at the Eastern Washington University Athletic Training Program. We always enjoy opportunities to connect with future healthcare professionals and share hands-on treatment techniques that help keep athletes moving and performing at their best!

Are you wondering what IASTM is all about, after our last post?
IASTM stands for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization โ a hands-on treatment technique physical therapists use to help improve movement, decrease pain, and promote healing in muscles and soft tissue.
Specialized stainless steel or ergonomic tools are gently used along the skin to:
โ Break down scar tissue and adhesions
โ Improve mobility and flexibility
โ Increase blood flow and healing
โ Reduce muscle tightness and pain
โ Help you move better and recover faster
What tools are used?
IASTM tools are specially designed instruments made from:
โข Stainless steel
โข Medical-grade metal
โข Ergonomic hand-held tools with smooth edges
These tools allow therapists to target restricted tissue more precisely than hands alone.
Who can benefit from IASTM?
IASTM may help patients experiencing:
๐ Sports injuries
๐ช Muscle tightness
๐ฆต Tendonitis or overuse injuries
๐ง Neck & back pain
๐ฆถ Plantar fasciitis
๐พ Tennis or golferโs elbow
๐ฆฟ Scar tissue restrictions
๐ถ Limited mobility or stiffness
At Apex Physical Therapy, our therapists use evidence-based techniques like IASTM to help patients recover, move better, and return to the activities they love.

Sunshine, great company, and golfing for a great cause! Last weekend, Andy Hamilton and his scramble team had an awesome time out at Deer Park Golf Course supporting the Lakeside High School Booster Club Golf Scramble.
A beautiful day on the course, plenty of laughs, and even better knowing it all supports local student athletes and programs. Thanks to everyone who helped make the event a success!
