Nothing says back to school like ice cream, friends and a playground full of smiles! Lewis Elementary families gathered for the annual ice cream social to celebrate the start of the 2026-27 school year.

Students dropped off school supplies, met their teachers and reconnected with friends. The bus parked out front was also a popular stop. Students enjoyed a chance to climb aboard and meet their bus drivers.

It was a sweet start to a new year at Lewis!

Thank you to our wonderful community for braving the rain and generously supporting yesterday’s Tools for School supply drive at the Solon Farmers Market!

We collected hundreds of much-needed school supplies, which were delivered to Our Community Hunger Center to help Solon students start the school year prepared and ready to learn. Families also had a chance to visit with officers from the Solon Police Department at the D.A.R.E. table.

Special thanks to the City of Solon Ohio, Yusuff & Associates -American Family Insurance and our fantastic volunteers for helping collect, sort and distribute the school supplies. We are grateful for everyone who helped make the drive a success!

Rain or shine, we’re still collecting!

The Tools for School supply drive is underway at the Solon Farmers Market at Bicentennial Park, and we’ll be here until 7 p.m. collecting new school supplies for Solon students.

If you’re able to stop by, bring an item from the wishlist and help our students start the school year prepared and ready to learn.

Welcome to Solon High School! Orientation day gave freshmen and new students a head start on life at SHS.

Students met the building leadership team, including new Principal Dakota Berg and new Assistant Principal Paige Zenovic. They also learned about the routines, expectations and opportunities at SHS. Class presidents Prisha Marwaha and Matthew Kim encouraged students to get involved in the school’s many clubs and extracurricular activities.

“As a freshman you all have the opportunity to meet new people, explore new interests and build relationships with our wonderful staff,” said Prisha. “Be open to trying new things because you never know what you might end up liking.”

After the presentation, upperclassmen showed students around the building, answered questions and shared advice for making the most of their high school years.

Let’s give a warm welcome to the Class of 2030 and all our newest Comets. We’re glad you’re here!

Join us for the Solon Schools Kindness & Community Tailgate on Friday, Aug. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at Stewart Field on the home team side!

Before the first home football game of the 2026 season, Solon families and community members are invited to connect, celebrate and enjoy an evening of food, activities and Comet spirit. Each of our school PTAs will be hosting activities for students and families of all ages.

Stop by to visit with Officer William DiGiovanni, known to students as Officer Billy D., Lt. Bill Vajdich and Henry the Service Dog from the Solon Police Department. The evening will also feature school mascots, the Solon Saturns cheerleaders, O.P.E.N. the Solon Athletic Boosters Spirit Store and Solon Music Parents.

Food trucks will include Big House BBQ, Cleveland Cookie Dough, Pop Culture CLE, Smooth Rider and Thai It Up.

Then stay to cheer on the Comets at the first home football game of the season! We hope to see our Solon Schools community there as we connect, celebrate and belong.

The City of Solon Ohio and Solon Schools are excited to once again host Tools for School on August 12, 2026 — and we’re looking for a community-minded business to partner with us!

This is a meaningful opportunity to sponsor an event that directly supports local students and ensures every child starts the school year with the supplies they need to succeed.

🤝 We’re looking for a company that believes in giving back to the community where they work — and wants to make a real impact.

Sponsorship includes:
• Volunteers to assist during the drive on August 12, 4 PM – 7 PM
• Helping collect donations and “stuff the bus”
• Unloading and organizing supplies for storage
