MakerStudio

Today in Storytime Crafts, we read Not a Box 📦✨ After the story, each kiddo got their own box and a challenge: think outside the box! I loved seeing all the different ideas they came up with, like this amazing Elsa castle! ❄️🏰

MYSTERY MAKERS is coming this October! 📦❓

This isn’t your typical maker class! Each week starts with a mystery. Makers will have to solve a clue to unlock their Mystery Box!

Each box is filled with a different mix of surprise materials, and then the challenge begins: What can you create with what you’ve been given?

There’s no one “right” answer! Kids will experiment, build, problem-solve, and put their ideas to the test while racing the clock. It’s a fun mix of STEM, art, engineering, and creative thinking, with a brand-new challenge each week.

✨ Charter funds can be used! MakerStudio is an approved vendor for Blue Ridge Academy & Peak Prep Academy.

Think outside the box… literally. 📦

We had lots of fun with this challenge!!! Lots of fun snacking too 😄

Last week we learned about the great Renaissance artists and discovered where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles got their names! 🐢

We focused on Michelangelo and the incredible Sistine Chapel ceiling, which took him nearly FOUR YEARS to complete. To give our artists a little taste of how challenging painting a ceiling can be, they got underneath the tables and painted “ceilings” of their own… and because the Ninja Turtles love their pizza, of course our paintings had to be PIZZAS! 🍕🎨

Painting overhead while looking up was definitely a challenge, and I think we all walked away with a newfound appreciation for Michelangelo!! Not only for the incredible art he created, but for the amount of time, effort and hard work that went into creating it.

And since pizza had already made its way into our lesson, we kept the theme going with a Renaissance Art pizza game!

Art history + games + a little silliness = the best way to learn. 💛

Classes meet weekly and are registered monthly. These are not drop-in classes. We love having a consistent group of kiddos each week so we can really build on what we’re learning and creating together.

We do need a minimum number of students to get each class started, so if you’ve been waiting for our Simi Valley classes, now is the time to reach out!

Message me for the registration form and all the details!

First class: Friday, September 18th!

When you give kids some cardboard, recycled materials, aluminum foil, and the freedom to create… THIS happens. 🤖

Yesterday, little makers took their robot creations to a whole other level, and I loved watching every bit of it come to life!!

Quick Simi Valley class update! 🎨

We are still searching for the right Simi Valley classroom space for our Monday Mystery Makers and Friday Art History Around the World classes. Because we haven’t finalized a location yet, we’ll need to push those start dates out a little bit.

If you’re interested in either class, please reach out now to save a spot for your kiddo! It really helps us know how many students to plan for as we choose our classroom space.

Mini Makers is happening in Simi Valley on Wednesdays! We already have our location and just need a few more kiddos to get the class going. We need a minimum of 8 makers, so we’ll be pushing the start date out a little to give more families time to join us.

And don’t forget! We also have classes at Elite Athletes Academy and Learn Beyond the Book, and it’s not too late to join us!

And coming in October, we’re planning to bring Art History Around the World to Honey Artistry in Camarillo! We’re starting an interest list for that class now as we plan for the fall.

Interested in any of these classes? Send us a message with the class you’re interested in, and we’ll add your kiddo to the list! 💛

Big day in our Discovery & STEM block! Our young athletes designed and sculpted their own robot concepts today — real engineering, real problem-solving — with the actual robots coming together Thursday from recycled materials. Then it was out to the field for a game of tug of war, showing action and reaction in real time. Science in the classroom, science in motion. That's a day at EAA #studentlife

Bring the MakerStudio fun right to your party!

Pick your favorite project and we’ll bring the supplies, tables, stools & all the fun to you.

There’s no right or wrong way to create and no winner. Just a fun space to experiment, problem-solve, meet other kids, and come up with some seriously unexpected ideas!
