Key Checks & Replacements during the Winter!!!!
Tires: Check tread depth (below 2/32 above wear indication is state minimum) Replace before this!!!!! and pressure (drops with cold), and consider winter tires with snowflake symbols for better traction; carry chains if required.
Battery: Cold weather reduces battery power; get it tested and clean terminals; replace if weak.
Wipers & Washer Fluid: Install winter wiper blades and fill with de-icer washer fluid; ensure defrosters work.
Fluids: Check oil (use winter-grade), coolant (ensure proper antifreeze mix for your climate), and brake fluid levels.
Brakes: Inspect for wear; stopping distances increase on ice.
Belts & Hoses: Check for cracks or brittleness in cold weather.

Wake up to Subaru land! Very loyal owners and a overall good brand.

Certain year Subaru's only have a warning light for overheating indicator, No Temperature Gauge. This can lead to hotter temperatures and vehicle owners not realizing this before it's too late. This is another head gasket issue with a warped head. All fixable, but perhaps preventable if a gauge was incorporated in the dash and the owner watches his/her gauges for warnings. Volvo is the same with some models too ...
