We've raised $700 to hire a composer for our short film! For every $100 we raise between now and the end of April, we're posting a new behind-the-scenes image from the Aromcom film shoot!

Here the director Katrina and intimacy coordinator Stephanie (far right) check to see if the actor positioning and camera framing is working for the scene where the characters Brandon and Trey make out in the middle of the community center. It was a logistically complicated shot, so needed a lot of takes, and Stephanie made sure everything was safe and comfortable!

We've raised $500 to hire a composer for our short film, halfway to our $1,000 goal that will be doubled by our matching donor! To celebrate, we're announcing the composer for Aromcom: Kanoa Wolfe-Doblin!

Kanoa is a multimedia composer with a Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition for the Screen from Columbia College Chicago, raised on the Island of O'ahu. He has written scores for dozens of indie short and feature-length films. "Along Came Wanda" won best original score at the London Independent Film Awards in 2021, “The Plea” won best original score at the Red Movie Awards in 2022, and “Concerto For Abigail” was nominated for best score at the San Francisco International Film Awards in 2024. Kanoa has been fortunate to assist multiple composers throughout his career, working as the music coordinator on the CBS TV show "MacGyver" and writing music arrangements on season 7 of "Hawaii Five-0".

Here some of our fantastic background actors have fun preparing for a shot going into the “Vik Community Center,” actually a park building in Adelphi, Maryland! In the story, the Icelandic Red Cross opens up some community space for stranded travelers to spend the night while the Ring Road is closed due to the winter storm.

Pictured here are some of our intrepid production assistants on the first day of our shoot — Kaitlyn, Autumn, Meredithe, and Helene. From shoveling snow, to putting gels on all the overhead lights, to running the clapboard, to setting up crafty tables for dozens of crew and background actors, we couldn’t have shot the film without them!

From now through the end of April, 2025, every dollar donated up to $1,000 will be DOUBLED by our matching donor! If we can raise enough to match that $1000, that means we can actually get an original music score for Aromcom!

We already have an experienced composer who’s excited to work with us, whose music credits include Hawaii Five-0, MacGyver, and a whole suite of award-winning short and feature-length independent films.
