If your plans for 2026 include creating a new website, it’s a good idea to think through which platform will best meet your needs. At Social Light, we primarily use SquareSpace and WordPress. Both are solid platforms, but they have their pros and cons. In this video, we talk about why you might choose one over the other.
As we’re reaching the end of the year, it’s a good time to review your metrics and review which of your sales and marketing activities worked, and which didn’t. That includes any efforts you’ve made to establish yourself as a thought leader. While it’s hard to quantify the concept, Monika and Nicole talk through some ways to track your efforts.

One of our clients made a sales training video that said:
“Marketing messages are like jam, the further you spread them the thinner they get. Therefore, for sales people generating leads, we need not to broadcast, but to narrow things."
Brand messaging is designed to cast a wide net about the value of your product or service. But when you are trying to sell to a specific audience, you can't lean on generalizations. You need to think in terms of the audience and their needs.
As an example, you may sell the same product to doctors and lawyers, but the way you talk to them is going to be very different. That means your sales campaign may include one ad for lawyers and a totally different one for doctors.
Summer is officially here, which makes it a good time for a promo. Monika and Nicole walk you through a few ideas

A friend of mine has been bemoaning her forced return to the office over the past couple months, but this week she sent me a picture of her and horse out on a trail with a note that said:
"There’s construction on our building so we got to work from home yesterday, and I had time in the morning to ride. I got more done afterwards than I did the whole week before."
There are a lot of people that would see this and say, “She’s out with her horse when she should be working! That’s exactly why people shouldn’t work from home.”
But that’s missing the point, which is that we’re not all productive on set a schedule or within the same four walls every day.
This article from Fast Company talks about finding – and honoring - a schedule that works for you. https://www.fastcompany.com/3042957/how-to-find-your-most-productive-zone-and-honor-it

When you are running a business, feedback is crucial to your success. Having real people tell you what’s working, and what’s not, can help you refine your products and services so you are offering things that people really want.
Logically most people get that. Unfortunately hearing something negative often triggers an emotional response that throws logic out the window.
So here a few things to keep in mind when it comes to feedback.
#1: Don’t ask for feedback unless you really want it.
If all you want is someone to endorse your ideas, you’re not really looking for feedback. If you truly want to improve things, you’re going to need to toughen up and prepare to hear things that may upset you.
#2: Give it time
When you hear something negative, your first reaction is to give someone the finger. That’s okay.
Give them the finger privately and then go do something else. Wait a few hours for the emotions to pass, then come back to their notes and really think about what they said.
You may decide you still don’t agree, but at the very least consider their perspective and if there might be something you could improve.
#3: Say thank you
If someone has taken the time to give you feedback, say thank you – even if you have to grit your teeth to do it.
#4: Use it
If you’ve found something that needs to be improved about your business, don’t sit on it. Put it into practice and see if it makes a difference.
