✨ Teacher Spotlight: Bertha Canas ✨

Ms. Bertha teaches our 2’s enrichment class and also supports our Pre-K program, and she’s been part of the Spring Knolls community for 4 years 💚

She describes her teaching style as caring, approachable, and passionate — and she loves getting to watch children grow from the toddler years all the way to Pre-K graduation.

Her favorite parts of the day are circle time and reading with the children, and she believes learning through play should be full of fun, silliness, and smiles for kids, teachers, and parents alike.

One recent moment that made her smile? Hearing a child who once struggled with drop-off happily say, “I like coming to school.” 💛

A few fun facts about Ms. Bertha:
☕ Coffee or tea? Both!
🎶 Go-to circle time song? 5 Little Monkeys
💃 Favorite classroom activity? Free-style dancing and letting the sillies out.

We’re so grateful for the warmth, joy, and care she brings to Spring Knolls every day 💚

✨ Moment of the Week: Reaching for the Stars 🚀

Our Pre-K class spent the last two weeks exploring the solar system! 🌍✨ From creating planets and building rocket ships to learning about the sun ☀️ and moon 🌙, their curiosity truly took off.

Through hands-on activities and circle time, students discovered how day and night connect to our place in space—while letting their creativity shine every step of the way!

We loved watching their imaginations soar! 💫

✨ Teacher Spotlight: Gyongyi Zilahi ✨

If you’ve been part of Spring Knolls, you’ve likely met our Pre-K teacher, Ms. Gyongyi 💚 She’s been a teacher here for 22 years, bringing warmth, experience, and so much care to our community.

She describes her teaching style as caring, playful, and dedicated — and you’ll see it right at arrival, when she greets each child with a smile.

Ms. Gyongyi loves that Spring Knolls gives children the space to grow at their own pace through hands-on, play-based learning. For her, learning through play means children lead the way while teachers guide, observe, and support deeper learning.

She loves sharing the Shubert series by Becky A. Bailey, using stories to help children build empathy, problem-solving skills, and confidence.

A few fun facts:
☕ Coffee or tea? Both!
🏃 Favorite playground activity? Obstacle courses
🎶 Go-to song? If You’re Happy and You Know It
🧁 Outside of school? Baking

We’re so grateful for the care, dedication, and sense of community she brings to Spring Knolls every day 💛

A little rainy day learning in our 3s class ☁️🌧️

Our 3s wrapped up their exploration of spring weather by learning all about clouds and rain!

Through hands-on activities, the children created their own rainy cloud art and explored how raindrops fall from the sky. We also incorporated counting and number recognition as they used dot markers to represent raindrops—bringing math into the fun.

It’s always exciting to see learning come to life through play, creativity, and a little bit of ‘rainy day’ fun 😊
