As caregivers we often have the best of intentions.
We want what’s best for our kids, and we want to be patient, loving and kind- yet we fall short.
This is because our brains are hard-wired to sabotage even the best of intentions.
That’s why we created a parenting program to teach the practical skills that lead to less yelling, better behavior, and more peace (for both kids and parents).
Sage Parenting combines the latest scientific research in neuroscience, performance science snd behavior management with practical leadership skills, to help you parent with more love, compassion, and connection.

Parents are essentially our first manager/leaders.
We teach our children how to be, how to communicate, how to be treated, our values, work/play balance, critical thinking, life skills and teamwork.
Our kids look to us to model all of these things. They need us to see their potential and their talents and keep them accountable.
They need us to manage them, to support them with everything they need emotionally, physically, spiritually and socially to be successful and thrive.
Parents are leaders. Leaders need self care, soft skills, teams to support them, skill development and work/play balance.
So let us ask a couple questions?
What your company (home) culture like?
Do you have growth mindset?
How do you handle conflict/feedback?
Is there good work/play balance?
Do you have an open door policy and make it easy for your people to speak to you?
Does your team have everything it needs to be successful?
What’s the disciplinary policy like?
Would you work for you?

They will spend their lifetime believing there is something wrong with them, instead of realizing there is something wrong with society.

As an educator for over 20 years and a parent of an adult neurodivergent child, I realized long ago that rigid environments focused on standardized skill sets and compliance actually stifles, stigmatizes and segregates those who don’t fit into the accepted “norms.”
That’s why our goal is to create safe, inclusive, accessible environments for exploring leadership and the complexities of being neurodiverse in a neurotypical world.

The minute we realize our children are different our bias is created.
Whether we see them as different, behind, special, quirky, or any other “label” that holds them outside of their humanity- we create a lens that informs every decision, every thought, and every feeling we have about them.
This can lead to fear-based parenting and forgetting that beyond any adjective or diagnosis they may receive- they are just our kids.
When we peel back the layer of labels, we see small humans in need of our grounded and present love.
When we see them through the labels, we need to fix, protect, control, heal, and manage them.
Our parenting tools go beyond the labels, and help parents use their innate wisdom and power to parent in ways that are restore their relationships and allow for the deepest of needs to be met.
The human needs of connection, empathy, and play.

Neurodiversity is a way of explaining the natural variations in the brain.
It does not see our children through deficits and disorders that need to be fixed.
Neurodiversity affirming spaces are important to helping neurodiverse children be seen, heard, and valued in order to better support their mental health and well-being.
This allows us build better relationships with our children, creating opportunities to help them thrive instead of mask and try to fit in to neurotypical norms.

Who are we?
Parenting Beyond Labels was created (with our sister program ) by two moms during COVID in response to the devastating impact both parents and the neurodiverse community experienced during quarantine.
It became clear to us that parents were under-supported already and that COVID created a crushing weight on this already taxed community.
We also became intimately aware of the lack of neurodiversity affirming spaces for parents and caregivers who are bombarded with information that pathologizes their children leaving them confused and frustrated.
We are here to provide practical tools, resources, coaching and mentoring to support navigating raising a child with social, emotional, behaviors, and learning challenges.
We hope to make your life a little easier, and you can find a little more peace in your heart and in your home.
