When the focus is real 🔥✒️ 🪵

Finding new hobbies is what it’s all about!!

Energy is all around us, as well as within us. 💓

Our neighbor and friend Michelle was eager and gracious to enhance our learning of sound energy! She shared many new instruments we have never played before while we deepened our understanding of the new concepts we’ve been learning. We are grateful to have such authentic, knowledgeable and kind-hearted connections in our community.

Just like sound waves, we also have the power to transfer our own God-given energy and love to those around us! 💫

These kids are the absolute best to work with!! Especially when we try to create unconventional models of our learning- like today’s sound wave! 🔊 👋

We’re thinking outside of the box and having a total blast along the way 💥 I’m here for it 👏🏼👏🏼

Our inspired learners asked to explore watercolor basics this morning. 🎨 💜 Coco Bee has crafted a beautiful channel on YouTube that totally sets the vibe for some calm and colorful creativity 🙏🥰

Heritage Village took us on an unexpected journey back in time! 🕰️

Most of our time was spent with George, our knowledgeable docent and historian who captivated us with facts and stories of the past. “I have a story for that!” he would say after noticing the kids taking interest in a certain item.

This is a FREE and exceptionally well preserved community resource. We had carved out two hours to spend here and only saw one house 😆The kids wanted so badly to stay and explore more, but alas, the school day had ended- but our curiosity has not! We will absolutely be back soon!! 🗝️📜🚪

🪷 Florida Botanical Gardens offers an awesome Homeschool Program! During this visit, we explored various conditions of a WETLAND habitat. We learned the importance of preserving these lush and lively areas as the center of Florida’s ecosystem. The food forest, Majeed Discovery Garden and baby alligator added on to make this an epic way to spend the morning 🐊 🫛 🐜 🍌 💦

We sought out some slimy satisfaction by challenging ourselves to create the smoothest slime ever! Through experimentation of different substances and measurements, many trials later, we conjured up a solution that just might be the smoothest yet!

Come visit us for a Shadow Day to learn the secret recipe!! 🤫 🫟

Our school is located across the street from SPC Seminole Campus, which means we get to have recess at the Natural Habitat Park! This expansive boardwalk is lined with marshy wetlands and a variety of native plants and trees to learn about along the way. 🌳

But we can’t get there without passing through the Solar System Walk! 🔭🪐☀️

Grateful to have an abundance of high quality and accessible community resources 🙏

When the kids choose the music for the sound energy science experiment and it turns into a total dance party! 😆 🔊 🪩 ➡️➡️

During my previous years as a classroom teacher, September 11 was often a day to commemorate through a brief discussion between transitions and textbooks.

This year looked different. By taking a physical trip to the St. Petersburg Fallen Heroes Memorial, learners were able to experience how a community is affected by such loss. We spent 343 silent seconds reading the names of the heroes, offering gratitude and reflecting on how we might also be heroes to those around us.

This year felt different. This year felt rooted and real. 🇺🇸
