**Lessons Learned**

Every single person who works on their own car, or races that car, has that one mistake they will absolutely never make again.

What is the single biggest lesson a project car or the driver's seat has taught you?

Any mistake or setback is incredibly frustrating. We’ve all been there. Creative profanity, a wrench hitting the wall, or the car stuck on jack stands. The important part is that we learn from it.

Log the data, adjust, and move FORWARD!

Save someone else some time and frustration: drop your biggest lesson in the comments! 👇

82 years ago today, the course of history was changed forever by the United States and Allied Forces. Against all odds, they stormed the shores of occupied France in the largest amphibious invasion the world has ever seen.

156,115 Allied soldiers
7,000 ships
12,000 aircraft
10,000+ casualties
4,414 killed in action

Today, we honor the ordinary men who bore an extraordinary burden. To those who fought, those who fell, and those who gave everything—your sacrifice bought the freedom we live in today. We will never forget.

**Mid-Season Reality Check:**

We’re officially in the thick of the season. The data logs are piling up, and the weak points are starting to show.

Where are you making adjustments?
Power?
Suspension?
Brakes?
Tires?
Cooling?
Maintenance?
Driver mod?

The fun answer is usually adding more power.

The smart answer depends on what the car is telling you.

USCA Fantasy Racing League — Season Points Update

The season is starting to take shape, and the Fantasy Racing League leaderboard is getting interesting.

After the latest round of Optima’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car, here are your current Top 10 season points leaders:

1. Sean Aldinger
2. Jason Rollison
3. James Thomas
4. Brian Wick
5. Casey Neubauer
6. Pamela Jackson
7. Scott Mitchell
8. Tony Prutch
9. Austin Barnes
10. Chris King

There is still a lot of racing left, and one strong lineup can change everything.

The next round picks back up when USCA heads to Road America, August 28–30.

Plenty of points still on the table.
Plenty of chances to shake up the standings.

Who’s making a run at the top next round?

**Budget reality question:**

You’ve got **$5,000** to make your car better.

Where are you spending it?

Power?
Suspension?
Brakes?
Tires?
Cooling?
Maintenance?
Driver mod?

The fun answer is usually power.

The smart answer depends on the car.

If it overheats, it doesn’t need more horsepower.
If it won’t stop, it doesn’t need more cam.
If it can’t put power down, it doesn’t need more boost.

**2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE — built with purpose.**

This ZL1 1LE isn’t overloaded with random parts. The focus was simple:

More consistency.
More confidence.
More control.
More durability.

And apparently, it also cleans up well enough to make the wedding photos.

The setup includes Kooks 1-7/8” long tube headers with Jet Hot polished ceramic coating, paired with a Pray Performance engine tune to help the LT4 breathe and perform the way it should.

Cooling and fluid control were also part of the plan, with an ADM Performance supercharger reservoir, Red Line HP 0W-40 engine oil, Red Line D4 ATF, Red Line 75W90 LS gear oil, and Red Line Water Wetter keeping things protected and consistent.

For the chassis, Viking Berserker coilovers give the car adjustability without taking away from what makes the ZL1 1LE such a capable platform.

Braking is handled by Hawk DTC-60 pads front and rear, giving the car the bite and temperature range needed when it’s being pushed hard.

And to put it all down, the car rides on Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RZ tires.

This is the kind of build we like — not just chasing numbers, but improving the entire package.

Power. Cooling. Brakes. Suspension. Tires. Fluids.

Everything has a job.

Even wedding duty.

When you’re trying to make a car faster, what matters more?

Driver confidence or car setup?

You can have a car with all the right parts, but if it doesn’t give the driver confidence, the pace won’t be there.

You can also have a great driver fighting a car that pushes, rotates unpredictably, won’t brake consistently, or never feels planted.

The best cars usually have both — a solid setup and a driver who trusts what the car is going to do.

So where do you think the bigger gains come from?
