Ahhhhh, leather...
I love working with leather. Especially nicely aged, broken-in, slightly weathered-looking leather salvaged from a secondhand couch. It gives the pieces made from the leather a timelessness that only honest wear can produce.
It takes a lot of patience to deal with the challenges of leather that doesn't want to lie flat. I like painter's tape for getting the pattern cut out. I carefully smooth and press the kraft paper onto the leather, taping every few inches. Then as I start cutting, I loosen the tape and re-smooth the paper as necessary to achieve the most accurate cut.

Boxy for .larsen.weaver made from a duvet cover
This piece was meant as a muslin, just to test the pattern fit before I cut the intended fabric, a quilt made by my grandmother. But it fits well enough to proceed without changes, so I am going to finish off my inside seams, add pockets, and tag it!

This was supposed to be a nice picture of the beach coverup/day robe that I sewed from yesterday's bandana fabric, but this cat has other plans.

season is starting!!! 😋 First berry of the year 💚
I put some effort into nurturing this tree this past year, once I had figured out what kind of tree it was and how best to care for it. It looks like my work is going to pay off - the early berries are HUGE, and the trunks are thick with tiny blossoms, promising a bumper crop this year!
I am taking (very limited) preorders for the fresh fruit. This tree typically ripens in May, with the most bountiful harvest coming in the last week of the month. Boxes will be carefully packaged to ensure all your berries arrive plump and unsquished. Long distance orders will ship out within 4 hours of harvest, via overnight shipping. Delivery to the Tampa Bay area can be arranged, or local pickup in Sebring, Florida. These are variety Jaboticaba. Boxes will be $20/pound (the only other source I have found for the fresh fruit is charging $40-$75 per pound!). I will also be offering about a dozen jars of ($20), which will be ready the first week of June. DM me to get on the list for berries and for jam! Last year, I sold my entire crop in a single day, so do not wait if you want some!

Our Story
With a focus on upcycled and salvaged natural materials, sustainable practices, and near-zero textile waste, I produce a full line of carefully crafted clothing, home decor, and accessories. I take full advantage of the thriving thrift shop scene in St. Petersburg, Florida, seeking out high quality fibers and handmade textiles for my projects. My goal is to give these beautiful pieces new life by freeing them from the dusty shelves of the thrift shop and breathing new life into them.
I exhibit my line at various shows throughout the Southeast, online, and by appointment. If you would like to discuss custom work or commissions, please feel free to message me.
