Inspired by the teachings of Jesus, Agros breaks the cycle of poverty & creates paths to prosperity

On World Environment Day, we celebrate climate action that begins with families.

Through the Rick Steves’ Europe Climate Smart Commitment, Agros families in rural Central America are putting climate-smart best practices into action to protect water sources, restore forests, and build more sustainable ways to live and grow.

With updated data from these best practices, more than 7,863 families have gained improved access to safer water systems, over 233,000 trees have been planted, and eco-friendly cookstoves have helped reduce firewood use by more than 1.65 million kilograms.

Every family deserves the chance to move beyond survival and build something lasting.

Through land, training, market access, and long-term support, Agros helps farming families turn hard work into stability, dignity, and opportunity they can pass on.

Your support helps make that path possible.

Caring for the land means building a future that lasts.

With your support, more families can:
Restore and protect natural ecosystems through reforestation, reduce emissions through sustainable farming practices, improve soil health and conserve water.

At the same time, they’re building resilient agribusinesses that create intergenerational prosperity.

For José Joel the biggest change is simple: his hard work is no longer building someone else’s future. It is building his own.

Before Agros, he worked as a day laborer in private farms for low pay.

Today, he is growing crops, learning new skills, staying closer to his family, and earning income from work that is his. He says tomato production has gone well enough that he has already started buying materials to build his house.

Hard work alone was not enough. But when hard work meets opportunity, everything begins to change.

At Agros’ Harvest of Hope Centers, producers earn income while they learn.

They build real skills in modern, climate-smart agriculture while working toward something bigger: the chance to grow, earn, and build something of their own.

Because learning cannot wait for later. It has to generate income today while shaping the future.

Opportunity does not stop at the field. It creates work, knowledge, and income across the community.

At 20, Sheila is part of that change.

At Agros’ collection center, she has gained real skills, steady income, and a stronger path forward while helping products meet quality standards for market.

When hard work meets opportunity, everything begins to change.

For Rafael the change is not just income. It is the chance to build something of his own.

Before Agros, working as a day laborer only covered food for the family. Today, after years of learning, growing vegetables, and working toward something more, he has already started buying materials to build his house.

He says the difference is clear: more stability, more time with family, and work that finally feels like it is building a future of his own.

When hard work meets opportunity, everything begins to change.

At 19, John stopped working for someone else. Now he is building something of his own.

Through Agros’ protected crop systems, he is growing tomatoes, improving income, gaining technical knowledge, and building a different future for himself and his family.

Hard work alone was not enough. But when hard work meets opportunity, everything begins to change.
