A project I contributed to at the National Museum of the American Indian is still active currently. These pages are part of the Native Knowledge 360° educational portal for the NMAI page on the “First Thanksgiving” mythology and the Wampanoag’s account of the story. Screenshots of educational sections 3 & 4 of the “First Thanksgiving” story according to the Wampanoag account. I created comic art in these sections. Each image features Wampanoag leaders meeting with English settlers in potential alliance meetings. As history teaches us those alliances did not end well for the Wampanoag or any other Native nation in the region. It’s relevant to the holiday some folks celebrate today and how that mythology has been harmful to the Wampanoag historically and Native ppl in general.
I’m glad it’s still up as the current admin might try to purge it for being “woke” in their desire to whitewash history again.

Traveling to this last weekend and haven’t been able to keep up with . My late contribution to Day 1, “Cornhusk Doll”.
For my People, the story of the Corn Husk Doll is one of vanity, which seems very relevant in the age of social media. Cornhusk Doll “pinup” sittin on the ground one knee up, leaning on one arm behind her, the other holding cell phone like taking a selfie in a mirror.
Had this idea for a while now, not everyone will like it but I don’t care.
