With over 40 years of experience and multi-platinum plaques, Barrett Jones, the founder of Laundry Room Studio () helped shape the sound of the PNW music scene. After honing his audio chops in his parent’s basement, he relocated to West Seattle from Arlington, VA in 1991, and the rest is history.

Influential recordings under his vision are the debut, the Presidents of the United States of America () debut, three Nirvana tracks (“Return of the Rat,” “Oh the Guilt,” “Curmudgeon”), and Melvin’s ) King Buzzo.

Barrett lends his creative touch to the PNW scene till this day. He’s an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and Youtube creator examining the state of modern music with reaction videos and live shows streamed from Laundry Room Studio.

Barrett’s still behind the board, still shaping sound, and always chasing the next sonic adventure. Hit him up at .

30 years ago on July 4th 1995, the self titled ⁨ LP was released. The recording session, at Robert Lang Studios in Shoreline WA, happened over a 5 day stretch in October 1994, and was only my second time in a "big" 24 track studio. I was a kid in the candy store with all the amazing outboard gear and mics, and the sound of that room! In those 5 days, with Dave playing everything, we tracked 15 full songs (and a few more unfinished) and on the last day I made a rough mix that Dave made into 100 cassettes and handed out to friends. Months later in Northern California the LP was mixed by Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf of B**g Load records who were coming off the success of "Loser" by Beck. The first pic you see is Dave and I from that mixing session.

Next Tuesday, July 1st at noon PST, I will do a live broadcast on YouTube.com/BarrettJonesProducer⁩ in celebration of this recording. I'll be fielding questions, talking about the session, and equipment and so on. Also, I have something special planned.

This LP was recorded at the 2nd Location for Laundry Room Studio in 1986. This location on Rt 50 in Arlington VA, was a group house of friends in their late teens and early 20's. The control room was in a walk in closet off the living room, which was used as the Live Room for recordings and band practices. P***y Galore was one of the first bands to respond to my advertising flyer which was posted in the local punk rock clothing store "Commander Salamander". The advertised rate for my 1/4" 4 track studio was $150 for 4 songs and $300 for 8 songs, no time limit. One of the first comments by John Spencer after listening to the playback of one of the songs was, "this sounds too good can you make it sound worse?". Also, Julie, would relish in smoking 3 packs of Marlboro Red's a day, and huge sheets of metal and power tools were brought in to record. To this day, this LP is one of the weirdest, most intense and interesting projects I've ever worked on. Cheers to P***y Galore! Pop Catastrophe
