It is my pleasure to announce that a part of scientific literature mining work that we had been doing in collaboration with School of Engineering & Technology, University of Washington, Tacoma has been accepted for both a talk and poster presentation at 2020 Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) Conference July 13-16! Summer Internship at NLPCORE Last summer, a brilliant young high school student spent some time experimenting with our platform APIs and built some really nice visualizations. As he gets ready to join one of the most prestigious colleges this fall, he made time recently to refresh his summer project.

CORD-19 is an Open Research Challenge offered by the coalition of AI2, CZI, MSR, Georgetown, NIH & The White House to apply text mining techniques on existing and recently published research articles related to COVID-19 and other strains of coronavirus and provide responses to a set of 10 challenge tasks. We at NLPCORE collaborated with the School of Engineering and Technology, University of Washington Tacoma and submitted our response for Round 1 today. You can read details of our submission at the challenge website itself at https://www.kaggle.com/varunmittalnlpcore/cord19-round1-response-by-uw-and-nlpcore.

We learnt a great deal in the process and will be refining both quality and presentation of our outputs (currently just csv files as requested by the challenge coordinators) in next couple of months for Round 2 (and beyond).
